Small leak

When cleaning my car with a pressure washer, a small amount of water is getting in here in the passenger footwell:

This happened to my old 5 series and it was the door membrane. Is it likely to be the same issue here?
 
Check the window seal too at the join between the top and side of the window

I wouldn't worry about it

The side impact of water being shot out of a pressure hose are not normal conditions

I have this when i use a pressure hose, however I have not experienced it from normal conditions I.e rain or pooled water on the roads

OK so having replaced the carpet over the weekend (check my other thread) the small leak appears to be a much bigger one:

The carpet was literally soaked through, you could wring it like a sponge! So lots of water is getting in somewhere. Any ideas where to look first? Just put a nice dry carpet in so don't want it to go the same way.
 
I would be looking at the membrane again...

Its a common BMW issue across the range..Easy fix too.
 
While the carpets are out sit inside and get someone to wash the car. See if it comes in the doors or down the back near the roof drains
 
Check in the front by the windscreen. Where the water drains away. If that gets blocked the water rises and drains into the cabin there is a post about it I will try and find the link.

Some of the info on the link is not correct though. BMW have no need to do anything in that area and checking the drains is not part of the service schedule. The cabin filter is located behind the glovebox, and accessed from the glovebox area. So in this instance a bit unfair to blame them.

Are you mis understanding about the seals?

Water will always go in between the glass and wiper seal on top of the door. Inside the door behind the door card is a membrane which channels water inside the door and drains to the outside. If the membrane is damaged it can drain inside the car instead.

As mentioned for major leaks look at this membrane then drains for front screen and rear of hood.

Well the leak source has been solved. Upon removing the door card, I was greeted with the 'work' of a previous genius that has cut away most of the door membrane :o So that explains the leak. The door card and door were full of water. Just ordered a new one from BMW at a cost of £80, will hopefully be able to pick it up later today before it rains again. Although the drivers side doesn't appear to be leaking, I'll have to check that too.

Surely the door shouldn't be full of water though, as the membrane doesn't help it drain. You must have a blocked drain hole??
 
Maybe full of water was an exaggeration, there was some water in there. The drain hole in the bottom of the door is clear. Using a watering can I can see that water is getting in at the missing section in the top right corner, it should be running around the edge.
