Small leak

I've just discovered the exact same leak with soaked carpet.

Is the waterproof membrane the 'sound insulation' (p/n. 51.48.7.016.655/656) on the parts catalogue?

I had a small leak in my boot the other day. Found it was getting under the rear wing panel, so its all been resealed. Hope yours gets sorted.

I also checked both my roof drains and were both cleat, thankfully.

No great secret I'm afraid, I just use this:

I've never been one for spending days cleaning a car to be honest, mainly because I've had silver cars for the last 5 years so the effort of claying/waxing etc isn't worth it!

 all the glory to "nightyard" on the gleam then ?

Glad its sorted.

Out of interest, can the membrane be removed to get to the gubbings underneath and then replaced or is it sealed and if broken open needs a new one?
(Is that why it was butchered and left if it can't be removed and replaced as they didn't want to buy a replacement?)

See here for the non-destructive way to remove/reseal the membrane

@ Mr Wilks - To be honest although it looks great in photos the bodywork has quite a lot of blemishes, mainly stone chips and very small dents. I am planning to get those sorted but want to get the car 100% mechanically sound first before I spend money on 'luxuries'.

Regarding the door membrane, I think it would be very hard to remove it without damaging it, especially if it's old. The remains of the one in mine literally disintegrated when removing it. For the cost I'd probably just replace it again if I had to remove it, but don't plan to!

If the membrane is intact and worth keeping, it can be removed by slicing through the tar like adhesive strip. This simply pushes back together and is very adhesive. I did this when adding sound proofing.

Well the source of my leak is indeed butchered membranes - on both sides :-x Very annoying.

I think I may as well do the sound-proofing upgrade at the same time.
