Slippery Knob

Apologies for the crude title, but got your attention..... :)

Anyway, question is, does anyone else struggle with their ZHP Gear Knob staying on? Mine comes off pretty easily. Any tips for keeping it fixed?

Amazing how knob innuendos still make you chuckle :D

It can't be on far enough if it comes off that easily no? Have you tried banging it down, does it definitely click home?

i dont know how they fix exactly but it sounds like it hasnt gone on properly as wondermike said.

iv just got a new knob to play with :P , the richbrook one i think ally got. why is it whenever the word knob comes up we all get a little sick ha :?

i was going to get a zhp but they dont do it in grey supposedly.

If you people keep talking about banging in slippery knobs the mods are gonna' lynch you..... :poke:

I have the same issue with mine. I have tried banging down on it but is still loose and comes off in my hand from time to time. Saying that, many people have said to pull of the original knob takes some doing but I pulled mine off easily so maybe my shaft is a different thickness or worn down.

If you find an answer let me know cos a loose knob is a pain in the a**e.

Edit - upon reading back, there really is no way in avoiding innuendo !!!!!!!! Seriously though, if you do find an answer let me know.

Innuendo bingo is superb :D

I have been struggling with my very big and cumbersome knob for some time. I saw a previous thread for a bloke in Lincoln who will arrange a knob reduction for a reasonable price. I was going to ring him today and take him up on his offer but after reading this thread I would hate to end up with one that comes off in my hand. I might just continue to use my big one until someone comes up with a way of working out how to keep a smaller one in place. Although, I quite fancy trying banging it home to see if that works.

I was considering upgrading to a weightier knob, but if it's going to go off in my hand I might reconsider...

It must be a bit of a shock when it goes off in your hand. I bet that happens at the most in-oppourtune moments, when you're really "going for it".

Mine is large and weighty but no chance of it coming off as it locks to the shaft with a sprung collar :driving:

guys whats the best way to get the existing knob off, iv given it a good pull but it wont budge!
Genuinely, and without meaning any hint of innuendo, you need to pull it harder! They need a good form tug to remove them: roof down, stand one foot on either seat and pull upwards on your knob. You might topple backwards out of the car but it'll be off...

Despite what you might think, your arm muscles aren't up to the job of pulling off a knob. You have to put your back into it.

i think its a roof down job, stand over it and pull.

iv always wanted to pull my knob with the roof down :P

Grab your knob tightly with both hands, then bend down bringing the knob to your chest. To pull it off successfully, use your core + shoulder muscles to yank it hard.

One good hard tug should be enough for most knobs.
