slashed roof

Does anyone knows, what is the part number of those belts between cover and headlining cloth? I could not find on www.realoem.com. Those belts come with other part like cover? I would like to order it, to replace damaged ones, but I do not know the part number.

Photos on page 2 should explain which belts I have on mind.

you can not buy the cloth separately from BMW. you can only buy the full hood and frame.

so i suspect they sourced your replacement fabric from some alternative source - non-oem / grey import?

I had to have my fabric replaced. both indy (that i trust explicitly) said this and my local stealer.

the indy managed to source a grey-import oem manual roof and transplanted the fabric onto my auto hood.

This is totally unbelievable!!! Can your insurance company help?

Here in Canada, the only bad experience I have had is with my neighbor's kids. They think they are going to each be the next Wayne Gretzky / Sidney Crosbie and have hit my Z4 with hockey balls. Its very worrisome to see big teenagers waving six foot hockey sticks furiously just a few feet from my car - they refuse to move their game down the road. They laugh and snicker when I wash and wax my car. One of them says that his dad's Honda Civic is faster.

Oh boy.

I thought that you could replace the roof fabric without replacing the roof's frame. In addition to OEM BMW, there are after market companies that make canvas tops to fit the Z4. Have a look at www.getbmwparts.com (AKA, Tischer) and Bavauto.

Had not seen this. Not true though as I have seen the invoice and Vines of Gatwick replaced just the fabric on my car, not the frame.

You can buy the black roof cover from BMW.

I did and the part no is B54.34.7.056.277. That's what it says on my invoice anyhow.

Mine is still in its original box and packaging. Not had chance to fit it yet.

Also, shop around. I got a price from Sopers then saw if my local dealer would beat it. I was pleasantly surprised, as they did by some margin.

I paid £1041.26.
 
True, but compared to the 4k the dealer wanted for replacing the whole roof it was more appealing.

I should point out I bought this almost 2 years ago too but I plan on keeping the car, unless circumstances change anyway.
 
My cloth is being replaced next week. BMW doing it as the roofs been rubbing on the seal. They are charging me £250, reckon its a 3k job.

They have said they are only replacing the fabric.

Yeah seems very strange.

I rang around a lot of places and the majority were coming in at around £1300 (just under). Sopers were cheaper than that, then my local beat them.

I also rang around other places and they were quoting around 600 inc VAT for aftermarket stuff.

Thats just the first 2 returned on google.

The headlining that fits inside is around £300 from what i've seen.

Still, those that have got the new outer bit for that price have done fantastically well :thumbsup:

I'll post pics up later of what I bought, I need to get the box out of the spare room and its the size of a coffin.
 
Having not seen how big the slash is, do a web search for "Tear Aid Type "A" Repair Strip" to see if that will work for now to buy you some time to search for a replacement.
