Hmm, seeing as how they cost next to nothing and I've been caught out in Kielder in the past, I thought I'd get a couple to keep in the Zed for the trip - we shall see if they are needed.

Don't expect to wear them whilst driving though!  :D  (I hope!)
Don't be silly,  they're too flimsy to wear while driving,  they'll blow back into your eyes and blind you...

....that's why I've got one of these for driving.... should keep the buggers out

Feck, hope it's easily fixed... Though if it comes to it you are at least fortunate to have a back up car that's almost as good :poke:

If you do need to bring the Porsche then let me know as I'll have to change your reg with the ferry people.

As an aside, anybody got a must-have camping list ? Think the last time I camped out I was about 15... Got tent, sleeping mats, sleeping bags and a light. Don't think cooking stuff is needed, but I will check if there's a breakfast option for the campers...

There appears to be a proper greasy spoon cafe just along the road

Has the interweb told you when it opens too ? Tbh, I'll keep a stock of Mars Bars just in case

We'll make sure we open a window at the B&B and waft the smell of frying bacon in your direction

I have every confidence. Just glad it happened after we got back from European trip and before we set off on this one.

Re camping - lots of warm clothes and blankets. I will be having words with wee Bing to pile blankets on your head if you are snoring - I'm a light sleeper

Will get a car update on Tuesday - bloody inconvenient bank holiday

I shan't dignify that with a response.. but I think I'll try to get Metal Licker to convince her of the merits of an Orange 35is I've seen on Autotrader

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-cars/bmw/z4/used-bmw-z4-35is-sdrive-2dr-dct-hessle-fpa-201408016261034 which might aid her in keeping up when I press-on!

Same here, I think it is a conspiracy to keep intelligent people away from the trip :P

5 SLEEPS TO GO

Okay, so had a wee chat with Perry earlier and I'm reassured that we're pretty much sorted.

If anyone has or can get hold of some walkies then it would be really useful - both for keeping everyone together, and a new technique that Perry has suggested is effective for dealing with tractors and other slow vehicles on twisty roads... Let me know if you can bring some.

I'll print some copies of the route, feel free to print your own though

Don't forget to print out your ferry booking sheet.

I'll also try and figure out Shell stops in advance, and I already have a pretty good idea of rest points on the route.

As for leaders, back-markers etc., as said before we will need to share this out, though if you really don't want to lead that's totally fine. I am pretty sure none of us know all the roads, but I know we'll all be tolerant of that if the pace backs off - main thing is we all stay together & safe.

If anyone catching of anything I've missed then let me know by PM. Can't wait for this, it's going to be ace :driving:
