SkyeFall Run 2014 - 30th & 31st August - Updated 29/07/14

Got my email now Allan thanks - oh and I'll include a 10% tip for the excellent service (I see you had to pay more than us?)

Will sort payment tomorrow.

Sounds like you've earned an early night. . . :(

Cheers, Paul

:driving:

Cheers Paul - unless my maths is screwed too I'm pretty sure I paid less :?

Don't know if I've earned that early night, but I need it... Unfortunately not happened though. No matter - 3 more days and I'm off for three weeks :D

Apologies I read it wrong - no tip then. . .

My email does not have an 's' at the end of highfen (just so that everyone can correct their spread sheet and make contact if/when needed)

Great you've sorted all this Allan - really feel the trip is 'on' now. . .

:driving:

I've converted Bing's Google Maps route to 3 TomTom Itinerary Files

- Sterling to Uig
- Uig to Stirling (inc Green Welly)
- Uig to Stirling (without Green Welly)

Would someone with a TomTom like to volunteer to load them and check that they work?

Thanks

Perry

Steph and I are booked into the Premier Inn at Falkirk on Friday - thanks for the link Perry.

Not certain what time we'll be getting up there yet - catch up with you when we arrive.

Paul

:driving:

Anyone..?

Perhaps we don't need them if no-one is going to be using a TomTom

My sat nav is a Garmin Perry, not a TomTom
Well that's no bloody good Nick... sell it and buy a TomTom :poke:

I'll see if I can find out how to convert the Google Maps route to Garmin format (or TomTom to Garmin) - if I can, I've nominated you to test them

Guiseley's is Garmin too. I have a Garmin but it's so old it won't accept routes :(

Note to Perry - understand your market before you put the work in :P

One last thing for now – I need some help turning the route into something that will work on TOMTOM or Garmin navs – if anyone knows how to do this (Perry), please volunteer…
Hmmm... TomTom or Garmin, you said... not, everyone's got Garmin...

last time I listen to you.... :P

But you only did half a job, and anyway I just presented the options and asked for a volunteer... Far be it for me to stifle anyone's creativity with something so crass as clear direction :D

We've got a Tom Tom but Steph prefers using a large scale map. . . .

Not certain how to input the routes you've put together - oh and the power lead is suspect - we have to wind it backwards around the satnav to get it to work. it's at least 5 or 6 years old. . . .

You getting a theme here

:driving:

Has anyone got a sextant and a stop watch ? We'll just use dead reckoning.

Anyway, the route is easy from Fort William - there's one road and it ends at the ferry. Literally. I'm happy to lead that bit :D

Typical bloody salesman, promises the customer the earth without bothering to tell the people who do the 'real' work what they need to deliver...

It appears that I've got an old TomTom Go 720 that I threw in the back of a drawer because it won't turn on even when connected to a power supply - It might be because the battery is so knackered that it can't even pass the supply through to the device. I've ordered a replacement battery and, once it arrives, I'll do a bit of open-board surgery and see if it'll power up.

While I'm waiting for the battery, I'll also see about creating Garmin versions of the route

Right, I've sent an email to everyone on Bing's list with the Garmin & TomTom route files attached for testing

If you don't receive the email please let me know

Thanks
as I mentioned in the email, the two return routes may have too many waypoints but the outbound one should be OK
