SkyeFall Run 2014 - 30th & 31st August - Updated 29/07/14

I was thinking of getting a couple of midge face nets for Steph and me just in case. . . :( :?

Will we have the gear for BBQing or shall we just go for a meal somewhere local instead?

:driving:

Cuil lodge guest house booked on Skye
In regards to a BBQ on the campsite will the midges be a problem :?
Did you get that today? I looked on their availability chart this morning and it said no availability...

Perhaps I need to phone rather than relying on the on-line availability checkers being accurate

Bings choice but my preference would be booking a meal somewhere in case of midges / bad weather

I would prefer a meal somewhere for the same reasons you stated :)

its a shame this was not the bank holiday weekend

Unfortunately I think that would have been detrimental to our enjoyment, even if I could make it, simply because of increased traffic...

Bing / PerryGunn you have mail :)

Let me get some dinner then answer, been slack on PMs today...

It was getting difficult to find availability nearby, but we've just booked the Orasay Bed & Breakfast just down the road from the campsite

It's a 1 mile walk to the pub - at least it's 1 mile 'there', might be 2 miles when zig-zagging back

Ok, I am happy to go with the majority on food - if indoors / on a midge free patio is the preference then let's do that. Otherwise we need it worry about getting food, having the kit, cleaning up etc. etc. happy to do that, but opinion appears to be swinging towards 'easy'. Just need to have some scran for the campers at brekkie.

I'll update the first post with confirmed attendees and also some guidance around how I'll go about booking the ferry for us all - something I'd rather do sooner than later. Also, as I've exceeded my promised delivery date I will PM the route and associated plan as-is to everyone later, on the proviso that, a) I think it still needs a tweak, b) you bear in mind that flexibility is always an option on the day(s), and c) I'm pretty sure I can't handle tweaking by committee, so unless there's any major gaffes just MTFU (or WTFU) and deal with it :P

When it comes down to it, there are not actually that many roads to choose from, and any major changes result in us taking the same route to and from Skye for large portions which would be a bit meh.

Slightly off-topic - anyone heard from Craig recently ? He seemed to be up for this on the original thread about the lack of Scottish hoons.

There's a cafe just up the road from the campsite... right by the Ferry Port so it'll probably do proper 'lorry driver's' brekkies....

Can sneak you a bacon sarnie out of the b&b :poke:
last time I was in Skye I skipped breakfast - think the last pint the previous night was a bit dodgy. Was lucky to survive Bradders trying to kill me with an enthusiastic air-hockey game. Happy Days.

We'll be on the coast this time - I'd put money on some idiot ending up swimming

First post updated at the bottom, provisional route and plan PM'd.

Bring on the slating :P

Friday Night Hotel

I've been speaking to Tony (Guiseley) as we're going to meet up on the way to Scotland, he's been in the area before and thinks that the Premier Inn at Falkirk is a good one to stay at - about 20 mins away from the Saturday morning meet point

We're both going to book there, so if anyone else is interested...

I've booked it - I actually stayed in another PI in Stirling last time, but this is closer to the depart point - £46 without breakfast (no doubt we will pick up food en-route)

If we have time - I'll suggest a quick divert here on Friday - pretty cool piece of engineering http://www.thefalkirkwheel.co.uk/
