What about Dunvegan?, as you said, if lots of people want the B&B, it would be better to be together

I can have a look, but it won't be until tomorrow evening now. If someone with some time tomorrow can find a big enough B&B in Dunvegan with space - for 4 couples so far by my reckoning - then I can change the plan, and there's a very highly rated campsite there too. I'm a little concerned we need to get in early though - leave it too long and everywhere will be booked up.

Wonder if Ruth can get any time off - or maybe a single day hoon with mr Gunn (as he seems to be driving through Guiseley anyway)....... Hmmm

Be ace if you can make it Mr Guiseley  I'll put you down as a possible...

Oli - will await confirmation

Mr wilks - :( , but understandable give my position on the weekend before...

i have another crazy notion to organise a similar Normandy event that would most likely be easier for many to access & have no less great roads & scenery ?

That sounds good to me, much better for runs without the risk of nasties in the post.

You are such a .... Oh sorry - this post doesn't qualify for that response :D

Hi Bing, Nick,

Had a quick look at alternative B and B in Dunvegan - haven't found one yet with 4 rooms. Others already booked and with only one room. Looks like it would be difficult to be together (4 couples).

Paul

Let's stick with Uig - there are two rooms at the campsite, and an alternate B&B suggested nearby. Only problem is that Uig itself seems to be the other side if the Bay... Though it can't be far, and well not be getting hammered with driving the next day...

Cindy's a bit disappointed to find that The Four Seasons, Savoy and Ritz all seem to have missed out on the opportunity to grab the trade on Skye, but I've sent an email to Harris Cottage to check availability

Room booked at Uig for Steph and I too

The Guy I spoke to Martin sounds very friendly and seemed keen on BMWs. He told me they could set up things for a BBQ on the Sat night Bing.

Those looking for somewhere to stay might do worse than give him a ring for recommendations?

:driving:

I know Bing said that there's a TravelLodge at the M9 services but there doesn't appear to be availability for Friday 29th which is not necessarily a bad thing as, frankly, TravelLodges are cr@p

Who's looking to stay in the Sterling area on the Friday night? I don't know how much you're prepared to pay but there are a good selection of B&B's on TripAdvisor - some with decent parking facilities

Perhaps those that are planning to stay on Friday can voice their preferences on the various B&Bs and we can find somewhere that works for everyone for a Friday night mini-meet and a couple of beers?

Excellent Paul

Wee Bing is now demanding his own tent on the basis that I snore too loudly

The people in the B&B next to the campsite are probably starting to worry in case they're too close....

For non-BBQ food, the pub by the pier is quite close and there's another one further down the bay, probably 15-20 minutes walk. I'll sort my own ferry tickets, there's a Skye > Harris > Lewis one I can get.

Not worried, they haven't heard how loud my snoring can get

Nice one Paul

Getting quite jealous we can't make this - numbers & accom. are all shaping up nicely - well done Bing & everyone for signing up. If I can help / offer any more comments let me know - AndrewP has perhaps even better knowledge of the area.

Mrs Jax and I hope to meet you all at Stirling and tag along for a bit before turning back in preparation for Autobahn / Stelvio / Monza F1/ Swiss Alps a few days later ! :driving:

Steph and I will be travelling up on the Friday and staying in Sterling area that night - we're on for a mini meet.

I've just checked again and, while there's the (full-up) TravelLodge right on the services, there is a Premier Inn a short distance away - looks like they have advance booking 'saver' rooms available for £51
