SKYE MEET/RUN, 22nd/23RD AUGUST 2015.

Just got back myself, after hanging around in Crianlarich with the others until the road was clear - it wasn't :headbang:

Left Craig & John (and their better halves of course), as they turned off home, then had what felt like half an hour of 40mph average speed roadworks followed by about 2 hours of rain - the first hour bad enough to cause aqua planing at 40mph in the middle lane (inside lane was worse due tot the lorry ruts).

And to top it all off, I nearly got taken out by a van driving along in the pissing down rain with not a single light on - I've no idea how he could even see :headbang:

Still, it didn't really spoil the great weekend, and I can see me doing some more north-of-the-border trips

Thanks Craig

Steph drove the motorway miles on the way home and when she woke me up ( :D she really is a great wife  ) she recounted just the same experience in the rain Tony :o - hard work!

Got home at 9.30 last night after a bit of a trek including traffic jams, thunder, lightning and torrential rain but the hoon was
worth every minute :driving:
Thanks to Craig for organising such a brilliant trip and everybody who attended who made it a pleasure to be there

Glad you guys had a good time but sorry you got caught in traffic etc.

Paul - yes the A819 down to Inverary is a great road - we headed home this way on the Saturday.

Sounds like an eventful trip all round.

I had a lovely drive up to Uig, sunny ferry trip with dolphins included and a nice drive up Lewis and Harris, sorry to hear all the hassle you guys had! A great weekend, and lovely to see some new and old faces, so thanks to everyone for making it that and especially to Craig for all the work behind the scenes.

Look forward to seeing some more photos, just one from me - tent with Z4 for scale:

Wow Andrew - that is cosy - don't think I'd even fit in that let along be able to sleep - packing light indeed - you might even get that in an E89 !

It's a great spot with stunning view - lucky seeing dolphins - I never have in UK.

Crikey Andrew - for a moment I thought you'd had to sleep sat up - but I've got it - you must sleep end to end

Very neat and love the photo with the mountains in the background - you had a better view than we did in the hotel.

Have midge bites on my wrists and hands - hope you were ok.

Was great to catrchup with you as always Andrew, and hopefully won't be too long before another meet gets done.
Glad u had a good trip up to see your folks  Til the next time :driving:

As for the meet;We had a bit of traffic on Saturdays route/journey up, but a good drive none the less, and only a bit of drizzle.
Sunday we had an absolute excellent Drive...temps hitting 26c on car display and glorious, mainly empty roads all round Skye, with some great company....couldn't ask for more.
As for the drive home and multiple accidents blocking our last 50/55mins stretch back to meet-point, and traffic jams after that meaning we didn't get home til after 9 either...but it did give those left come Crianlarich to enjoy each others company for a bit longer with an impromptu dinner in a nearby Hotel/so all good. :D

Cheers Allan, always good to see you mate...me and Cheryl had a good laugh with you and Christine at the dinner table on Saturday night....as was all the company, excellent
Glad you got home eventually....never known the traffic chaos/multiple accidents to happen in all my years driving, and having been up Loch Lomond side, etc etc many times.
Thankfully, while a pita, it didn't appear to spoil the weekend for any1 :D :driving:
Until the next1 mate :)

Thanks Craig

Cheers,Tony
Glad to see you had a good weekend....we had some superb runs, on Sunday especially, and great to see u as always.
Was thinking it was cleared, yet the traffic after Luss/at Balloch was awful, and for no reason other than people crawling thru the roundabouts/holding things up down the line, as the accident was all fully cleared away!! :headbang:

That aside, had a good blast round Skye etc., especially with you and Gary/alfascozesi and that NSX playing catch up to us all the time, then the 3 of us leaving it behind time and again, haha
Glad you got home eventually, even if later than planned

I started replying individually, but with a laptop that's needing fixed, its taking too long...so will reply as one.

Thanks to all those who came along to the meet.
It was great to see some new faces.....Nictrix(Nicki and Stuart) who came along for part of Saturday, and yes/hope you can make a full day/drive in the future, glad you enjoyed the run out all the same, and we are a decent bunch on here :D ......... also Garry/aka Alfascozzesi, good to meet you and you had every1 thinking we all knew you already, which is always a good thing, see you again soon and maybe in the future we could try that "ring" we didn't have time for.
Had a blast with u and Tony...it looke like you were surgically attached to his rear bumper, lol. Nice job keeping up; and we had fun with that NSX
Also Rich and his o/h Julie...hope today went ok; and good to get to chat to you both a bit more at our unplanned Sunday night meal
It was a Baptism of fire the Sunday run, for not having your z long, and there were some idiots on the road indeed(see below)...but you managed to keep up ok, and hope it didn't put you off future meets. its all about what u are comfy with, as we will always wait at turns/junctions/toilet stops for people to catch up. Glad u enjoyed it

Good to see Mike(filtremike) and Janet again, and nice that we had 2 Orange e89's this meet, made a nice pairing :driving:
Good luck planning the big day :D

Was a good laugh in the Hotel, at dinner on Saturday night, in good company, enjoying some tasty food...VENISON was AMAZING.

Good to meet Highlander/Jim if briefly at the Green welly, and hope to see you at another meet in the future, for longer next time
Always nice to meet up with regulars as well, and having Jack & Jackie along in their lovely Boxster s; pity you had to rush off on your hols...see you soon and enjoy Greece

Bing...we had 2 Black M coupes, different shades too, think that's a first for a scots meet? Pity you couldn't make it with your lovely M rdstr as well.

Highlights of the meet for me were plenty.....
Friday night catching up with John/sammyz and Pauline at ours, Drive up on Saturday despite some traffic and the Sat nt. meal, getting to chat/meet you all...
the Sunday drive was Superb, and even had upto 26c weather, which was better than the rain forecast, especially with pretty empty roads and Stunning scenery all around us in Skye.
The only low points were the poor standard of driving from OTHER road users(not our group), who couldn't overtake safely or even drive properly......we had a guy in an Insignia nearly plough into a tree when he overtook the car in front of him at a snails pace, then ran out of road when oncoming traffic approached!!
As well as the idiot who nearly took us out in a van, as was too busy messing with his mobile/and was 3feet on our side for way too long :headbang: Not to mention the idiot pulling out on Rich with no warning/indicator, as he overtook it!!

That aside, we had way more fun than anything else, and even an old vw caravelle hi-top camper van(which leaned almost too far over in corners) and a 3.0tdi q7 tried to keep us at bay, LOL.

Cant wait until the next one, and thanks again every1 for coming, without you it wouldn't be the same

I only took a few pictures with my phone despite carrying a superzoom in the boot, but I'm always more interested in the driving than the sights (although I love driving through beautiful countryside).

Gone through the camera pics but quality isn't great  and most are similar to those already posted.

Just a couple that were ok

Good to see a picture of the cars. Looking forward to seeing Mikes video. Hope it turned out.

Looking forward to the next one :)

Gary had a quick look before I set off this morning - looking good - mind not going to be home till Wednesday night now, so I will get it done on Thursday :D

Finally got home about 6 tonight. Epic drive over 1100 miles. Epic scenery in the highlands and on Skye. Epic roads especially Sunday on the way back to Fort William. Epic midges, I have the scars.
Spirited driving at it's best. Great people to be with. Big thanks to Craig and Cheryl for their hospitality and for organising the weekend.
