SKYE MEET/RUN, 22nd/23RD AUGUST 2015.

great to meet up today with some old and new faces for some of the blast to Skye. Whist the section along Loch Lomond was predictably busy I think we all had a decent hoon up Rannoch Moor towards Glencoe. Really sorry I overtook a couple of you and totally accept it is against forum runs etiquette - I've no excuse really other than that section of road is one of my favourites and I thought a bit of local knowledge might help some others press on - hope no-one was offended.

Great turnout too with a decent number of cars and a nice mix of Ms/E85/86/89 and some bloke in a blue P car !

Hope you all have a great time in Skye and a good drive back down. Weather was good all morning with a little light rain as we got further south Enjoy and hope the midges are on holiday too ! :driving:

Hope you all have a fantastic drive today, wishing we were there with you guys :driving:

It looks like it might be a bit wet first thing, so lets hope you are all able to get some roof down action later on  of course coupe drivers are excluded :P

Back first as I live on the route back! Just finished a BBQ and a couple of nice G&T's (will have another for you Tony)

Had a great couple of days and enjoyed meeting you all.

A great bunch and some great roads with everyone really pressing on (is that the correct term on an open forum!! :D )

Weather fantastic today and I hope you all enjoy the road South from Fort William.

Got a few pictures but I only had my phone and I was always solo driving so....

Here they are anyway!

Coupes on a run in Scotland are usually rarer than hens' teeth... And you had two ! Looking forward to more pics

I recognise some of those lovely roads :driving: Good photos and looking forward as Bing has already said to seeing more pics

Just home about 9pm after roads South were closed by accidents!

What a fantastic weeked with fantastic people and great location, thanks to everyone involved for their contribution!
My first group outing, some very intense but enjoyable driving with a few nervy moments thrown in!
Should have some decent photos but will look through them tomorrow.  :driving:

Glad your home but at least it meant you got another road on the way back :o

Trying to look on the bright side :(

I take it you had to go Callander - Stirling?

Were the roads packed with Loch Lomand being shut?

Both roads were closed so we had to hang around Crianlaraich for a bit and have another meal together, (including deep fried mars bars)I evently went back via Callander when the roads opened as it was quicker for and the others went the A82. Long day but certainly worth it!

Good day out for us,although we got "stuck" trying to get out of the Green Welly so that was the last we saw of the group.......until Jack, heading home in Glencoe village. We went south on coast road to Connel and then east to Perthshire, finally getting home at 6pm.....had a bite to eat at visitor centre overlooking Castle Stalker and another coffee break at GW on way home.
I can put faces to a few names now and was good seeing so many Z4’s together.......I'm sure there are plenty around in Scotland but you rarely see them when out for a jaunt in the country.
Looks like the weather was decent over most of the weekend and hopefully it was a memorable trip........the company often makes the differance as the weather gets forgotten about when it's poor.
Got another wee tale from Glencoe but I'll post separately.
Cheers,
Jim

Got back home about 9:30 after a detour via Helensburgh to miss the last bit of traffic - will get pics and video on tomorrow - thanks to Craig for all the arrangements again and thanks to everyone else who made the event :D

Good to meet you all and a shame we could only fit in the run to Tyndrum.
When we left we headed for Oban then at Dalmally turned left for Inveraray then Arrochar and home. The rain started just before Inveraray not sure when it would have reached you guys.
You certainly had good weather today though as it was showing 27 degrees while we went around the coast (Saltcoats-Largs)
Look forward to the next one and hopefully can go the full way.

Just got through the door at 11.00pm  916 miles 31.7mpg

Accident on the A82, Inverglas, which blocked the road and meant a very long detour back to Tyndrum, A85 to Oban down A819 to Inverrary and then back to Arrochar with traffic moving at walking pace for miles as it fed through at this point. Mind the weather was glorious and we had a clear run on the A819 - what a fantastically twisty road! In fact all the detour was brilliant in terms of scenery and roads which made it part of the weekend enjoyment - hope Allan made it back - we came across him stuck in the traffic. But what a slog we had home in the dark and torrential rain on the M74 and A69. That's 14 hours in the Zed today with only about a 15 and 30 min stop . . .

Thanks to Craig for the organising - we'd never get to such places without the efforts and encouragement of others.

Apologies for not joining you today on what must have been an epic hoon in that fabulous and unexpected weather - feeling much better with a return to some form of stability about 4.30pm (hence I got to enjoy part of the detour  ) but there is no way I could have safely taken part - so a steady cruise around with Steph on the route firstly, showed just what fabulous driving roads are available (remembered many from last year as well) secondly, gave me and Steph an insight to what it's like to come across a Forum group. When you came towards us on the North loop and drove past, the Zeds really do impress and the noise from all of them as they pass is epic - that was fantastic - wish we'd videod it. Thirdly it was a delight to kick back and chill, taking time to look at the surroundings and scenery for a change - we've had a lovely day.

Not quite how I expected to end the weekend and doubt the same will occur again but we had a brilliantly intensive driving day on Saturday, great to meet and drive with new members and the 'old stagers' (as always) and yet again create some cracking memories as we make the most of the roads on our hoons. Today, very different - a lovely relaxed day in amazingly brilliant weather. I can only imagine what a great day you've had if the traffic gods were with you - looking forward to hearing and seeing the results.

Glad you all had a good time - weather has been fantastic up north today but it certainly made for eventful road journeys - Air Ambulance out twice today in Aberdeenshire to attend to motorbike accidents- one if which I came across before the emergency services had arrived with the injured being assisted by local farming community.
