aldi car park in hull has some security posts strangely in normal bays laid down flat. The Z4 is on M sports suspension from the factory yet the front bumper hit the post and tore a lump out. Surely they are liable? I never did get round to writing a letter to them or fix the bumper...

While I agree such things are a pita, why would they be liable, as you drove the car and hit the post? No different to if you hit the kerb in the car park or any piece of street furniture in there.

There's a multi storey at Birmingham rail station that takes bumpers off on the ramps, but they just say people drive too fast or without care

Seriously though, I hope you get it all sorted soon.

(Mr. Wilks - Kes! stop it :headbang: )

:D :P such a iconic book + film from my schooldays

Ah I get it now. :D bit slow there. Another who last watched that film sat in the school drama hall.

Insurance company have written of my car - gutted :(

They have offered me what I paid for it so fair do's to them.
I have asked for a copy of engineers report to see extent of damage, also asked if i could buy back car, they quoted 3K
salvage value!?? :headbang:

Would ideally like to buy car back, but Cat D will affect resale and also harder to insure.

Any thoughts?

I suppose a lot depends on report, but car was driveable after accident...

Didn't the car have high miles ? That will play a part in the valuation but even so seems heavy writing it ff :?

Thats a shame Andy, its most probably worth more the 3k in parts. Its got a lovely set of KW V2 coilovers which were over 1k and they have only done about 15.000 miles.

Thanks Jan
I was so enjoying the car....
They have offered me 6.5K settlement or 3K salvage buy back.
I will wait to see damage report, but most likely buy it back and repair it.
I know it needs new radiator and bumper not sure what else yet.

Looks like a very high salvage cost compared to write off value.

Sad to say it is terminal. :(
Got the engineers report would cost £8700 inc. vat to fix her.
Not even worth considering salvage purchase.
Will go and collect few items from car this saturday.

I guess I am the look-out for another Z

(tempted by the silver ZMR Minihen has up any thoughts?)

With your recent record ,your insurance is going to be sky high.I would be looking at 1L engine cars. :(

How bad was the damage then? Must of been a fair bit to take it that high. I wonder how much it would cost used 2nd hand parts etc. If you still wanted to buy it back may be a low ball offer might do the trick. You could try using the high repair cost for leverage with the insurer.
