Simplest coding solution please?

Well obviously I've read all about Carly and all the other coding, scanning, error reading type solutions, but i'm just looking for the easiest solution for a quick bit of coding.
All I want to do is code wifey's 2.5i so that it does the triple indicator flash, as at present it only does one (literally, blink and you miss it.)
It would also be nice to get rid of the annoying beep all the time it's in reverse (not the sensors beep, just the 'hey remember you're going to move backwards' one.)
Apart from that, she's happy and I doubt I'd be needing to change anything else.

So, can anyone advise if there is a relatively cheap solution that would sort this for me, and also then be able to carry out any error code investigations in the future.

Thank you.

Carly is the easiest solution, there is a list on here of guys that have it and may do it for you for a couple of beers. For the reverse beep easy fix, under the panel on the drivers footwell is the sounder box for the alarm and reverse beep, just pull the plug out that sends the signal for the reverse beep, it’s one of the three, can’t remember which

Excellent. Thank you. I'll maybe take a look at that option too.

My 2nd E86 used to do that beep every time you put it in reverse - it did my head in!

Luckily a forum member at a local meet who had Carly turned it off for me, added the 3 flash indicators, beep and flash on locking and a few other useful features.

If you get stuck here's a link to the thread about who has Carly and where - but it's a long read! https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=97818

Thank you for the link. I admit I had completely forgotten it existed.
I would prefer coding rather than unplugging stuff so I think it's time to contact a few East Anglian Carly owners.

I recently had some coding done on my '03 Zed and wanted the triple flash indicators. Apparently it is unfortunately not possible on the pre-facelift models :(
I did however get beep when locking, indicator flash when unlocking, door locking at 4mph, both windows up/down one-shot and most importantly I can put the roof/windows up/down with the key

That's frustrating about the triple flash, as one is completely pointless tbh.
Already got beep when locking, indicator flash unlocking, door locking at 4mph.
Currently only the driver's door window has one-touch operation.
Can you clarify the roof/windows operation please. Do you mean with the key turned in the lock, or on the buttons. I thought this was only possible with an aftermarket gadget add on?

With Carly you can code the roof to go up or down by holding down the open button on the remote continually until the operation of completed and vice versa when you want to close the roof hold down the lock button. Similar to the gap tech but it’s not one button touch and only works with the remote. I can confirm I did not find the triple flash on the indicators.

I coded my keyfob to unfold the roof but I don't use it as it drains the battery in the keyfob.

For 3 indicator flashes is it so much hassle to move the stalk into the locked turning position or keep the stalk held down in the intermediate position, count three relay clicks then turn it off?
One finger movement and about 2W of muscle power expenditure?

Agree battery drain on key fob is significant and best option is the fit the gap tech module it’s awesome, worthwhile upgrade

Yes it is! Go away. :poke: :D

Just logged into Carly in my e85 3.0 and there is not option in any of the modules to code out the beep when reversing, checked and double checked each one so not sure if you are able to code this out if you have an earlier e85, you may need to pull the cable as I have done.

Thanks for your time to check that. I'll keep both options in mind then.

I did wonder where my thread went :scratchhead: previously it used to be in the general discussion section!

For the most part, the thread is up to date, so if you look at the 2nd post (on page 1), it will give you 95% of people and their respective locations. Then if you click the link, it should take you to their profile, so you can PM or email them.

Appreciate I've not updated it in about a year, but relatively few new Carly users since I last updated it! :D

May as well add me to the list, got Carly when it first came out so I have it as a one off cost for life no annual subscriptions which is good and quite rare these days

Yup, thank you.
Plan now then is to get wifey to work out what she wants, then contact a few close to me for assistance.

Can anyone confirm whether the double-flash hazards should be codable on a facelift model? I know it's possible on pre-facelift cars.

If you mean a double flash on locking then the answer is Yes.

After a coding session on my 2nd Coupe (so a facelift model) I had that feature with a double beep.
