23/09/2018 - NOW SOLD
2006 Z4 3.0si Sport Coupe.
I purchased the car in April 2014 at 50,000miles, and have since done just over 49,000miles. I have loved every mile of it, and had not intended to sell, but a house purchase has sadly forced my hand. I would very much like the car to pass to a forum member and an enthusiast who will continue to care for and enjoy it as I have.
The Standard specification of the car from the factory is as follows;
Production Date: 31st August 2006
MFSW
Smokers Pack
Electric Sports seats (non heated)
Dream Red leather interior
Extended storage
Headlight Washers (currently programmed off with Carly – they pump through the fluid like its going out of fashion! I can repogramme them back on if the buyer so desires)
PDC
Brushed Aluminium Trim
The car is on 99,362 miles, this will now not increase as I have a new and extremely boring car to drive.
In the ~ 49,000 miles I have owned the car, I have undertaken the following major services/modifications;
1. 224M Alloys (from the Z4M) (fitted with normal 3.0si Tyre Profiles)
2. Stubby Aerial
3. Retrofit Cruise Control
4. Replacement Vanos Solenoids (preventative)
5. New Radiator
6. Brodit Phone holder
7. Water Pump & Thermostat replaced preventatively
8. Fuity car cables Aux In
9. Clutch Delay Valve removal
10. ZHP Gearknob
11. Re Undersealing of Rear Brake Lines
12. Powerflex Lollipop bushes, Rear Trailing Arm bushes, and front & Rear ARB Bushes
13. Replacement OEM front and rear suspension top mounts
14. New Bilstein B12 Suspension (incorporating B8 Sprint Dampers, and Eibach Proline lowering springs. Front Dampers are brand new as of June 2018, as the original front dampers failed and were replaced by Bilstein.
15. E46 M3 CSL Geometry applied – tranforms how the car drives, well worth it in my opinion! Alignment recently checked/adjusted following replacement of the failed front Bilstein B8 dampers.
16. Quaife Limited Slip Differential (supplied & fitted by Birds Auto with a lifetime warranty).*
17. M Front Bumper, complete with the correct undertray, side-pod sections and brake ducts. This has been resprayed July 2018 to remove stonechips, so is immaculate.
18. Midbox professionally removed and replacement with welded pipes (Very subtle modification – my wife didn’t notice until I accidentally dropped it into conversation 6 months later!!)
19. New Headlight units (non-OEM Projector Type) – complete with brand new high quality HIDs.
20. Inspection of both DISA units, and replacement of the Outer unit with brand new OEM part.
I have a detailed cost spreadsheet, itemising every single expense for the car, along with a description, supplier details, who fitted & details, and mileage and date fitted. I also have a large folder of invoices and receipts from BMW Main Dealers or Independent BMW Specialists. The vast majority of the work has been undertaken by TWG Automotive, who are a highly respected BMW Independent garage based in Frimley. A lot of Z4 forum members also use TWG, and can vouch for the quality of their service.
The car has always been run on V-Power, and properly warmed up before any enthusiastic driving. I even took a trip to Stratstone Derby specifically to get two new Key Fobs, as the car was first sold through them!
BMWs of this era were some of the earlier cars to use the Condition Based Servicing (CBS) regime, but I personally do not like to leave it as long between servicing, so have ensured the car has had interim oil changes and brake fluid on an approximately 9k/annual basis during my ownership.
The Service information is as follows (see photos for more information);
06.10.06 – 0 miles - PDI – BMW Stratstone Derby
23.10.08 – 17,586 miles - Oil Service (inc Brake Fluid) – Sytner Leicester
16.08.10 – 31,887 miles – Inspection 1 Service (inc. Brake Fluid) – BMW Stratstone Derby
30.07.13 – 45,811 miles – Oil Service (inc. Brake Fluid) – Cliftons Auto Repairs BMW Specialist London
22.08.14 – 55,770 miles – Inspection 2 Service (inc. Brake Fluid) – TWG Automotive Camberley
09.10.15 – 68,524 miles – Oil Service – TWG Automotive Camberley
29.07.16 – 77,088 miles – Interim Oil Service – TWG Automotive Camberley
10.03.17 – 83,277 miles – Inspection 1(inc. Brake Fluid) – TWG Automotive Camberley
06.10.17 – 89,193 miles – Interim Oil Service – TWG Automotive Camberley
13.06.18 – 97,415 miles – Oil Service (inc. Brake Fluid) – TWG Automotive Camberley
I have daily driven this car during the entire time of ownership (with the exception of a 4 month period January to April 2015, as a result of breaking my leg badly meaning I couldn’t drive), and it has never let me down at all. It has plenty of power, and the modifications I have done have in my opinion significantly improved the driving experience, whilst retaining a decent level of comfort for longer trips or indeed commuting. The difference the Quaife Diff particularly makes cannot be understated, as many others will attest.
Bad Points:
Whilst I would love to say there are no bad points, there are. I am not interested in deceiving anyone, so wish to be as transparent as possible to avoid wasting everyone’s time. If any of the below is unclear, or you have questions or want to know more, please contact me via pm or come along and meet me and see the car; I will do all I can to give you the information you need. The last thing I want is for a potential buyer to end up annoyed having travelled a distance to find the car is not what they believed it to be.
The Car was registered a CAT D in April 2012. I have not discovered what the nature of the write-off was, but there is some very minor evidence of respray on some of the panels if you look extremely closely, so my presumption was that it may have been keyed. I will provide detailed photos of the car for anyone wishing to inspect further prior to travelling to view. Please contact me via pm. As a point of note, the previous owner was not actually aware of the CAT D status of the car when he originally purchased it, he only discovered it after I did my own HPI Check during viewing and informed him…!
The Paint is not perfect – there are stone chips and marks as you would expect of a car of this age and mileage. I regularly detail the car, and have had it professionally detailed in March 2017. It still cleans up extremely well. I can supply any additional photos of the car as required. The front bumper has of course just been resprayed as of July 2018, so is immaculate.
In 2016 a particularly overzealous tyre monkey chipped all 4 alloys. The chips aren't particularly noticeable, they always niggle me, but I have always prioritised the mechanicals over aesthetics, so have not got round to sorting these out with a refurb.
It is extremely difficult when coming to sell a car to cut the right balance, and I hope the above does not put people off from enquiring, or coming to view the vehicle. It is an extremely good looking, honest example of an enthusiast-owned, well cared for and very capable car, and I will genuinely be sorry to see it go.

I am asking for £7,000 onofor the car as it is, with all modifications etc included.
PLEASE NOTE: the above price does not include the BMW Performance Front Brake Kit shown in some of the photos. The car will be provided with the Standard 3.0si front Brake set-up.
Finally, boring notes at the bottom – I will only be permitting test drives with proof of comprehensive insurance, otherwise I will be doing the driving. Cash or cleared bank transfer prior to, or on collection. You will not be driving away until funds are cleared and in my bank account
If you have any feedback in regard to the advert or the price (and feedback would be welcome!), please feel free to contact me directly via pm – I would politely request that comments below are strictly in relation to the purchase of the car.
Thanks all!
Ed
