For some, fakes are about pretending to be something your not, but for many they are about owning a watch they love and could never afford or maybe not even want to spend the money on, while not giving two f$uck s about what what people might think of them.
Take a look again if you really believe they have worse movements than a £50 budget watch. Your typical street vendor on your holiday destination will sell ones like that, but delve a little deeper and you'll be surprised at just what it being produced.
As far as trade marks go, well there's no argument there.
I have a tudor black bay replica with a Chinese clone of the eta 2824 movement (the one the genuine tudor uses) it runs within 1 second a week accurate and is the most accurate mechanical movement I own and well within cosc specifications. I know that the vast majority of replicas will be nowhere near this accurate but I got very lucky and 99% of genuine rolex, tudor, oates philippe will not be this accurate. As per the pretending to be something I'm not, most people have never heard of tudor and most that know about the brand know it is a rolex sub brand and see it as a poor man's rolex, I don't want to pretend to be a poor man to the people who know, I only wear it because I really like the style but don't think it's worth 2.5k especially now I know my replica Obe is more accurate in timekeeping than 99.9 % of the genuine article.mj2k said:I would call you on the absurd claim of fakes having better movements than £1k watches, and that by having 30+ fakes is not trying to pretend, but don't want this to end up as an argument rather than an appreciation of watches as intended, especially as they could be included in here as sub £300 ones
Completely agree with thismj2k said:no fit state said:mj2k said:Don't really get the fakes, why pretend to afford something you can't? Will people think more of you?

That have certainly improved in recent years, and some are scarily good, however inside, an Asian 7750 is never going to be as good as a workhorse seiko 7s26 one, just as an example, but could equally have chosen a hand wind 6497 vs seagull with its lack of effective swan neck regulator. I'm not talking about street vendors in Spain.
I own / have owned a few sterile watches, styled on 14060M, PAM111, Black Bay. All of which have no branding on them & were purchased to trial the watches for longer than an AD experience, before buying the originals. You can get the look without taking the p*ss out of pretending. If it's genuinely the look, not the brand, then this is the way forward with makers such as Parnis.
Love to see close ups of the Hublots to point out the errors...just a little hobby
Anyway, back on topic & no photos but will take them tmrw.
My cheapies, SKX007, SKX009 and a custom made one, black seiko monster, and a recently acquired ticker of a citizen 6400 ecodrive, oh, and a Riseman for timing my smoker![]()

mj2k said:Must come down to my view on trademarks, I like sterile as to the size of the watch & feel before buying the original. I am guessing due to your comment of seconds at nine, that you are well read on these, you have certainly been successful with your Asian movements. Any you have had issues with?
My last three watch purchases were a g shock, a vintage seiko and a replica ulysee nardin with a seagull movement. I've actually been very lucky with the Asian movements the only one I have that went kaput is a copy of a copy, I thought when I bought it that it was a standard eta clone but it was a naff clone of a clone known as a z2. I generally try to avoid Asian chronograph movements although I have 3 A7750 watches all are seconds at 9 and only one of them is a chronograph the other 2 are (surprisingly good) panerai replicas (non chrono) that just use the 7750 because of the second hand placement.mj2k said:Must come down to my view on trademarks, I like sterile as to the size of the watch & feel before buying the original.
