Don't really get the fakes, why pretend to afford something you can't? Will people think more of you?

They will have worse movements than a budget watch costing £50, so just seems daft, and not to even mention trademarks etc.

I have to disagree with you I have "fakes" that have better automatic movements in them than a lot of £1000+ genuine watches. I buy watches because I like them, both genuine and replica and personally I don't care what other people think I don't do it to be or act like something I'm not, I just couldn't afford to own the 30+ watches in my collection if they were all genuine. I kind of get what you are saying about the trademark thing but then again I like many other members of this forum have committed exactly the same type of trademark violation with the aftermarket BMW badges on my car

I would call you on the absurd claim of fakes having better movements than £1k watches, and that by having 30+ fakes is not trying to pretend, but don't want this to end up as an argument rather than an appreciation of watches as intended, especially as they could be included in here as sub £300 ones

For some, fakes are about pretending to be something your not, but for many they are about owning a watch they love and could never afford or maybe not even want to spend the money on, while not giving two f$ucks about what people might think of them.

Take a look again if you really believe they have worse movements than a £50 budget watch. Your typical street vendor on your holiday destination will sell ones like that, but delve a little deeper and you'll be surprised at just what is being produced.

As far as trade marks go, well there's no argument there.

That have certainly improved in recent years, and some are scarily good, however inside, an Asian 7750 is never going to be as good as a workhorse seiko 7s26 one, just as an example, but could equally have chosen a hand wind 6497 vs seagull with its lack of effective swan neck regulator. I'm not talking about street vendors in Spain.

I own / have owned a few sterile watches, styled on 14060M, PAM111, Black Bay. All of which have no branding on them & were purchased to trial the watches for longer than an AD experience, before buying the originals. You can get the look without taking the p*ss out of pretending. If it's genuinely the look, not the brand, then this is the way forward with makers such as Parnis.

Love to see close ups of the Hublots to point out the errors...just a little hobby

Anyway, back on topic & no photos but will take them tmrw.

My cheapies, SKX007, SKX009 and a custom made one, black seiko monster, and a recently acquired ticker of a citizen 6400 ecodrive, oh, and a Riseman for timing my smoker :D

I have a tudor black bay replica with a Chinese clone of the eta 2824 movement (the one the genuine tudor uses) it runs within 1 second a week accurate and is the most accurate mechanical movement I own and well within cosc specifications. I know that the vast majority of replicas will be nowhere near this accurate but I got very lucky and 99% of genuine rolex, tudor, oates philippe will not be this accurate. As per the pretending to be something I'm not, most people have never heard of tudor and most that know about the brand know it is a rolex sub brand and see it as a poor man's rolex, I don't want to pretend to be a poor man to the people who know, I only wear it because I really like the style but don't think it's worth 2.5k especially now I know my replica Obe is more accurate in timekeeping than 99.9 % of the genuine article.

Just FYI I have a lot less than 30 replica watches. I have a collection of both replica and genuine which is a total more than 30 watches the point I was making is I couldn't afford to have that many if they were all genuine

Some fakes are crap others are very good you just have to look past your prejudices

Completely agree with this :)

But it's not me that owns the Hublots none in my collection replica or genuine

Sorry, you got caught in the Hublot crossfire!!

Not experienced the 2824 Chinese movement, but certainly sounds like you got a good one based on your COSC! I love my tudor, so versatile with pretty much every strap, love mine on a NATO. Such a modern classic!

Actually I'm quite a fan of the a7750 movement and have a watch with one that is a good few years old now and still running strong. Just stick to seconds at 9 and you have a great movement.

I find sterile or homage watches a little pointless, either go gen or go for a bloody good fake. Why fanny around some where in the middle? Besides that the quality of sterile watches tend to be far worse than the fakes they at trying not to be.

Must come down to my view on trademarks, I like sterile as to the size of the watch & feel before buying the original. I am guessing due to your comment of seconds at nine, that you are well read on these, you have certainly been successful with your Asian movements. Any you have had issues with?

I have had one problem a7750 movement where there ratchet wheel teeth stripped, so I just modded a eta replacement to fit. Other than that all my watches running Asian movements have been great. Maybe I've just been lucky, but they really have made me think twice before buying another Swiss made watch....I did find myself browsing Pam 299s the other day...though that really is going off topic!

My last three watch purchases were a g shock, a vintage seiko and a replica ulysee nardin with a seagull movement. I've actually been very lucky with the Asian movements the only one I have that went kaput is a copy of a copy, I thought when I bought it that it was a standard eta clone but it was a naff clone of a clone known as a z2. I generally try to avoid Asian chronograph movements although I have 3 A7750 watches all are seconds at 9 and only one of them is a chronograph the other 2 are (surprisingly good) panerai replicas (non chrono) that just use the 7750 because of the second hand placement.

Like I said before I do understand why people have issues with the trademark infringement side of it, but I have replaced all the external bmw badges on my z with aftermarket ones which technically. are just as illegal as the dials on replica watches and Im sure there are many other members on here that would do the same to their Z but would never considered a replica watch as justified

The real crunch question. If someone compliments you on the watch, do you respond "thanks, but it's a fake"?

I prefer the term Chinese knockoff and yes I do.

That's the difference between fakes and replicas. The watch is the same thing but the attitude of the wearer differs. They aren't trying to fool anyone, they just love watches.

Why do you need a collection of 30 watches
Why not a smaller collection of better quality watches that you could use in rotation
When it comes to fakes whether it be watches or other luxury goods all I think is people who buy them are only kidding themselves.

lol to everyone who thinks i own fakes to make myself look better or kid myself. i dont need to as my 35is says everything it needs to about making myself look better and i only have to compare that to what other people drive and thats enough justification for me to spend my money where i see best as the haters are the ones who cant afford a nice car, let alone anything else good in life. the watches on the other hand are something i buy because they look good on my wrist. the compliments i get on my watches when i am wearing them is neither here nor there, they are not commenting on them because they think they are expensive or originals, they are commenting because they look nice, end of.

everyone who knows anything about watches will know that hublots are 20k watches and worn by celebrities or millionaires so wont be stupid enough to even ask the question if its an original and to anyone who doesnt know hublots, its just a watch that looks nice. a few friends have asked me if they are original and i laughed and said of course not. i say its a £30 watch but looks and feels better than any £50 watch and i like the design. i can wear them everyday and not even bat an eyelid if they get dinged or scratched as they are consumables

my gold invictas which are original get a lot of comments but again they arent mega expensive and if anyone asks, i let them know how much they cost but to them the price means very little, they just like to put a price on some things to get some perspective but again, i didnt buy them for the price or the compliments but simply for the fact that i like them and the very same reason why i bought my z4...... for myself. the fact that i get a lot of compliments just goes to show that i have good taste and people appreciate the things i have

So many holes I can pick in this, but won't as too easy.

1) invictas belong in this thread as they are way under £300, unless you believe the MRRP and your 85% discount

2) is you car fake, as the picture in your sig is white, but the description says red.

Save some money & buy a new shift key, you appear to be missing yours!
