So just by the demographic of people who buy convertible sports cars, there also must be a few MAMIL's amongst us.

I started cycling 14 years ago because I had big accident and had to get fit and lose weight,I started doing 6 miles twice a week and now do about 7,000 a year (150-200 a week).

I have always taken my bike on holiday and cycled at various place around the world and done a few big mountains and the last one I did was Mt Babadag in Turkey, 6,600ft in 15 miles, yes it was bloody hard going.

I do both road and gravel riding.

Any way I own a 2021 Canyon Grail. (of course I modified it with extra carbon.)

You can see the aero carbon rear mec and chainring covers.

And also a 2023 Canyon Aeroad, which is currently being re framed by Canyon as this one developed an bad creak and apparently I'm getting a 2025 frame, forks and seat post. but here's is a pic of the one I sent away!
According to Canyon's website the new frame alone is £4,300!

And a close up of the aero chainring cover I make.

So what have you lot got?

Nice 8) Back in 1981 I bought a new motor bike instead of a new push bike frame. That one was Reynolds 753 tubing. Good to see they are a bit cheaper in comparison these days. :D

good thread. presume mountain bikes are as welcome as road bikes...

currently got one of these... havent used it for a while mind as the motor was playing up... oh and my main biking buddy went and had a kid...

Used to cycle to work but in all honesty there is no way I'd cycle on a road these days as value my life too much. Too many pillocks about on their mobile phones to notice you.

Tim.

My other half has just ordered a Canyon Grizl ..ON CF Trail but also has a Cotic Escapade steel , Cotic Tonic Titanium and Cotic Cascade steel and a Kinesis Tripster AT . :)

Probably not as MAMIL as you expected, eh? I have an Alchemy Eros just to be different, not that it gets much use. Pics to follow.

MTBs are welcome but I draw the line at lecky bikes. :poke:

Only kidding anything with two wheels and no petrol power (mights start another thread for those!!) Oh and pictures, we all love thread with plenty of pics.
You don't even have to be a proper MAMIL, but if you like some flannel shirts and beards with handle bar bags, still good and even Bromptons! :poke:
I've never ridden a electric bike but keep meaning to have test ride on one, I've raced a few up hills and I can beat them, I'm a mess when I get to the top and their riders aren't even out of breath.
They really are a leveller and if you've got dodgy knees or whatever it means you can get out and have fun anyway, which it what cycling is all about.

So keep the pics coming.

I’ve not ridden either of my bikes for some time now. I started getting some significant pain in my thumbs and no amount of bar twiddling, new grips etc reduces it. The only thing that helps is riding with my thumbs on top of the bars - that’s not really a safe way of doing it!

I suffer the same. Have you tried a decent pair of bar ends or inner bar ends, to give you an alternative grip position? SQ labs’ are supposed to be good, but loads of Chinese cheap stuff available.

There's quite good options of high rise MTB bars currently, the rise and sweep give quite a good range of adjustment, I'm told this can help, along with experimenting with the position of brakes and shifter/dropper levers, which on a higher bar position could offer more chance of a better position. The Ergon GP range are known for ulnar nerve related discomfort, Esi silicone grips are also something I've heard helps.
I remember seeing a guide on road bike bar/seat position, long story short, you should be able to take your hands off when riding on a smooth surface and remain in the same position, so not sit upright or straighten your back and the bike should remain stable, I.e your hands (mostly thumbs) shouldn't be load bearing when riding on a flat surface, they should be relaxed and stress free to steer and operate controls.
Might be worth visiting a decent independent bike shop and asking for their opinion on your bike set up and symptoms you experience. There are some shite bike shops around still but most genuinely want to help you keep enjoying your bike/s

My first build some years ago. Real triggers broom.

My big bike. I’ll replace at some point and this will be my son’s.

And the latest hard tail I built.
Not ridden enough this year so far but changing that from now as it’s the best. Even a bad ride is a good one.
