I take it you didn't use the paper type seal but some sealer on the diff??

The paper gasket isn't available anymore afaik.

When I first installed the lsd the paper gasket came off intact (stuck to the back cover), so I reused it with blue sealant (although reusing the paper seal is not recommeded by bmw).
But when beadblasting the cover, the paper gasket had to come off obviously, so I now use only the blue sealant. That is also the bmw recommended procedure.
I never had leakage problems.

Welding on the aluminium castings sometime can be done:

This is a weld on the z4 oil filter housing (argon tig weld). I accidently cracked the screw hole because ess supplied the wrong bolt for it (thread too short so the unthreaded part of the bold drove into the threads)...
But it's a bit hit or miss.... especially large structural welds
(the oil filter housing is pretty expensive, so it was well worth the trying)

Ok cool i was going to try and buy a one. I wont bother now.

As for the welding your right some cast aluminum can be. All i was trying to say was the quality of the castings in car parts and motor bike parts can be.... Well quite poor with high porosity and high silicon levels. I do a fair bit of aluminum welding and when i get asked to do car stuff i hate it

Very well thanks :D

Still reading the manuals as it has a few more buttons and connectivity options than my M :o

can you operate the stennah stairlift remotely so that it's ready for you on return?
what about warming up the slippers and cracking open a pack of Worthers originals?

I bet it can.. I mean, it is an old man's sportscar right? :fuelfire: :poke:

Ah yes, that is indeed there 8) . It does move the seat all the way back so you can enter the car easily. Guess that was what you meant :D

It also has the "comfy" suspension setting which helps with the old bones as well :P
