Should I top up my oil?

It's showing sort of low, but saying 'Oil OK'. Should I top it up or leave it?

Does it use much/any? Mine does a little so topping up had become a bit of a routine. Id try to keep it at least Half way, try not to wait for the warning.

I've only topped it up once before, so no, it doesn't use a lot of oil typically. I'll leave it for now then! :)

I'd always have mine up to the top level on the dipstick, regardless of what the dashboard is telling me. I also keep a litre bottle in the boot for top ups. The 3.0 are known for liking a drop of oil.

Call me old-fashioned but I prefer to visibly look at the markings on the dipstick rather than rely on the dashboard telling me to top-up my oil. Of course, that's no good for you dipstick-less facelift owners.

Personally haven't found my 3.0i doesn't use much oil, but have the strange occurence that if I leave it parked on a side-slope, i.e. one side of the car lower than the other, the oil warning light comes on when I restart the engine. That's despite the dipstick level being perfect. That's why I don't really rely on the electronics...

exactly the same as me.

my zed seems to use no oil whatsoever :D

since the last service in February mine hasnt used a drop either - only difference is I switched to using the LL-04 spec oil from LL-01.

as above, prefer a dipstick :D

I have a facelift and have (am) still a dipstick :)

Don't tar us M owners with the same brush as the lesser drivers :poke:

Mine uses about 1l every 2000Miles! Must be the way i drive her :driving:

Needless to say, the longlife oil is pointless as it all gets burnt off and opted decent 0w40 refills every 7500 miles :)

When the dipstick is at the lowest point, how much should be put into the engine... i know the answer is "until the oil is backup to the top of the dipstick but how much oil does it require in order to accomplish that, thanks in advance
