Shortest time you have owned a car

During your time of car ownership what is the shortest period you have owned one for? Also, what was the make of car, and the reason for it.

Mine was a Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9, had it for just over 7 months. Ownership came to a crashing halt quite literally as I wrote it off after a bad accident

Aston Martin DB9 - owned for the weekend before the dealer agreed to cancel the sale and take it back.

Jag XF that was mis-sold then refunded by the dealer after 5 weeks of ownership

Austin A40 for £25 that I had for a month while I stripped and resprayed my Mini. Scrapped it upon completion of the Mini

CJ just reminded me, picked my first ///MR up on a Thursday, found an issue with it on the Friday evening and rejected the car on Saturday, so 2 days.

I bought a 2.9 sierra 4x4 many years ago... I Instantly regretted buying it and drove to A dealership in wilmslow and dealt it on a Mk2 16v golf GTi.. About 6 hours..

Recently it was a Porsche 911 C4S...

3 weeks, including the week it was advertised for sale. Paranoia set in very quickly, I should have known better with it being my 3rd 911. The prettiness seduced me..

Mine was a Pre Owned Mercedes SL 500, which I bought from Mercedes Direct one Christmas on Dec 1st, and it went back on January 4th.

There was something not quite right with the suspension, in that it felt like the shocks had gone, which was weird as it had air suspension. The dealer said they would look at it, with some reservation, once up on the ramp, they showed me the front had quite a few new parts....and they tried to get it up to check the alignment and it was so far out, they couldn't. They said I couldn't have the car back...put me in an E class for 4 months whilst they tried finding me another one, they couldn't and that's when I went into a 6 series for the first time in 2005.

Their selling line in the SL...it had been owned by a Dr who bought it from them....one careful owner!!

MOT'd a Granada Wentworth at 11:00 am the did my sisters wedding and sold it at 17:31.

6:31 total on the road ownership. Ok I brought the car(wreck) for the purpose but it was only two days.

:D

Triumph 2.5PI - had it 3 weeks - lovely car - walnut dash , comfortable - but only did 14mpg no matter if I drove at 100mph or 20mph :x

Seems like 4 hours ownership will take some beating by the looks of things

Great car - we had one, was my Dads pride and joy "it's got fuel injection don't you know" ....that was until we were returning from a family camping holiday (towing a caravan) and a German in a transit fell asleep and rammed us from behind. Huge pile up closing both ways on the motorway but no injuries thankfully - they were tanks!

LandRover Discovery, 14 months - cured me for life for any Landrover for being the most expensive, horrible car to own (without actually breaking down).

Funnily enough my Z4M has been the shortest time for me with a car and I had it only 5 months.. reasons for swapping were I realised I should have gone for the Coupe firstly and I was still lusting after another V8 after I had sold my TVR so I swapped it for a E92 M3 but that only lasted 10 months in the end as well!

I have owned two 2.9 XR4x4`s one for 9 months and one for 5 and a half years and I loved them both...never even driven a golf though but their image is sky high.

I bought a Honda Civic 1.6 petrol new after owning a 2.2 diesel Civic for 3 years. I didn't like the 1.6, no real power, px'd it for my first Z4 after 10 months.

A Mazda MX5 bought for myself as a Christmas present in December - picked it up on the 23rd from the dealership. Returned in early January as I had noticed the drivers door was out of line by a few mm and asked them to adjust it. They couldn't. Further investigations revealed the chassis rail on the drivers side had been pushed up. The dealership (Mazda agent) couldn't understand it as the guy who traded it was the only owner from new, was a good customer and had traded against a newer model. It was clear they suspected me of having stuffed it - which I hadn't. All came good in the end as they swapped it for a better spec car at no extra cost to me. I believe they straightened the chassis and sold it on...

An XR2 in 1990, had it for 4hrs.. gave it back to the dealer as it was rubbish!

Trump ! 1hour - MR2 Turbo Import :D I had time to fill it up and get 15 miles up the A361 out of Barnstaple when the turbo pipework imploded. Cash refund in hand inside the hour including limping it back :(

Going back a few years I had a mate who had one of these, not much got passed it in a straight line. Well, upto 125mph that is, then the limiter kicked in. :driving:
