Shock bumper m suspension

Sorry for the slight thread hijack with an uneducated question - but would installing standard bumpers rather than the sports bumpers actually impact ride height at all?

I.e If rest of the suspension components are the lower “sports” suspension, would it have any bearing on ride height? Or would it be purely a handling thing?
Im under th eimpresion that its the springs that control ride height, and the bumper stops just protect the shock against excessive compression.....but will listen to any corrections.

Correct. The shocks have surprisingly little travel left with a car sitting on top of them. They are designed to damp expansion AND compression in the suspension. Having longer bump stops will cause the car to “bottom out” more often. As others have said, you won’t notice under ordinary driving conditions, unless you’re going over bumps at speed, or traversing a depression.

Cheers all.

Is it fair to say it would be equivalent to those who have Eibach lowering springs with the sport bump stops? I.e a step lower ride height wise than the bump stops are intended for?

Still weighing up whether to get something done about it… very much kicking myself for not double checking on Autodoc!

I have done many suspension refreshes now. I've found sports bump stops on SE cars and vice versa, and even one that had different length stops on each side at the rear. They have never seemed to cause any issues. I wouldn't worry about it tbh.

Thanks, good to know I’m not the only idiot around!!

Will leave it and see how I get on. Really happy with the suspension refresh other than that, amazing what a difference it’s made to the ride :)

I changed the drop links aswell and was surprised how loose the old ones were on the car....what is a give away that the drop links are cooked?
