I need to replace a cracked plate, so was having a play about here http://www.demonplates.com/platebuilder.php

Is it worth trying to be creative or is that just chavvy? Boggo standard best perhaps?

Keep it legal.
Forget logos, ///M on it, etc. and ensure it's road approved with postcode identifier, BS#, correct font, spacing.

Anything else draws attention from old bill and fails MOT's.

BTW - price looks way too much for a pair of plates

£16-£20/pair where I get mine from

Where is the best place to go? Would like to get it fitted too without being shafted (thank you BMW)

Cheers. You need a brain to fit it yourself though

Lol - just the old plate and use that as a template to drill through to the new one. If taped on, then just put a couple of bits of masking tape on the bumpers as position markers

Oh, and a drill :D

I have used Demonplates three times now on my TVR/M3/X5 and I liked a logo on the left and I added a tiny bit of writing on the bottom specific to the car, each to their own of course and currently I just have boring plain dealer plates with nothing on them but I did like having those plates on in the past.

Get rid of that EUROPE logo whatever you do
if you must have a country logo at least have a UK or England one
Better of with none though

If you have a fancy plate it won't be flimper spec! Seriously, this is not allowed on your car. Stick to bog standard.

That is ONE illegal plate fella, no spaces, badge on left, and " ///M " at the bottom instead of the plates details, do what Tom as suggeseted, plate surround and clean up front or no plate on the front like me.....now thats illegal lol

Til you put it on again when you get pulled :poke:

Next time they might not be so forgiving

Because it just clips in, two screws in predrilled holes on the back then just put the numberplate in and clip it together.

only 1 plate to have the supplying dealer as in the original supplying dealers plates - or another BMW dealer if you can find the ones like Eastern do which are m power at the bottom - call them and send through a scan of the V5 - car looks looked after and not to McDonalds Corsa ( nothing wrong with that look - I have had my oakley stickers in the back window - back in the day) . my last were 25 quid from JC Aberdeen .

but you are right to change them every couple of years - they do fade, craze , and delaminate.

I'd be interested to see if anyone has had a fine in the last few years for non-standard plates?

I have two cherished reg numbers improperly spaced, one of which I don't even bother changing for MoT these days - and none of them have the issuing makers details on - but never been stopped, warned pr fined despite regularly driving from West Wales to Dover and back. Probably because these days theres hardly a bobby to be seen on the roads.

Its my little reaction to being regulated to death over complete and utter nonsense. Your average ANPR device could read a plate in cyrillic script if it wanted to.
