Service Clock Wasn't Reset?

Afternoon all, just been looking through the papers of the car and the last 2 services of my car (not done whilst I've owned it) have been as followed

Inspection 2
Oil Service (Done 2 months ago)

Now, the service clock when you turn on the car says it needs an oil service in 5500 miles (it's done 1000 miles since the service)

So i'm 99% sure what has happened is it was reset after the inspection 2 but wasn't reset after the oil service the previous owner has done

So, question, do I reset the clock (Was just worried about messing up the time schedule and BMW noticing it's been reset more times than services) now or do I let it run out and go into the minus and in 10,000ish or near a couple years get the inspection 1 as that's whats next

Cheers!

What are the dates between the I2 and the oil service?

Has someone done an interim oil service and decided to let the service indicator count down to an 'official' service?

i2 was 6/1/12 and 54559 miles
oil service was 26/08/14 and 60360 miles

No service in between only a brake fluid service at 31/10/13 and 58435 miles....

So it looks like it was 7 months late for the biennial oil service anyway.

I'd get an I1 in a year/10,000 miles (whichever is sooner) to get the schedule back on track. But unless it's under a warranty stipulating manufacturer schedule I wouldn't worry about the lapse, and just keep it maintained properly from now on.

It had some time SORN with the previous owner, he rarely drove it! That would explain the lapse!

No warranty luckily, I was just worried about when I take it to bmw to get serviced something would mentioned when the negative miles are on the clock regarding the service clock

Dealer might mention the clock/book discrepancy, but there's no BMW warranty T&Cs to fall foul of, so it's none of their business as to how you've maintained it!

I've had 3 occasions that the dealer has not bother to reset the clock on mine, and they just tell me to pop in when I'm next passing. Sometimes it's the next day, other times it's 2-3000 miles later.

The only thing a non-dealer or 'incomplete' dealer service history will have an effect, is if you need some dealer/BMW goodwill when/if something goes wrong and you don't feel like you should be shelling out.
