Semi Integrated Nav anyone??

You can track it, well, you can track the X5 from the same factory. I will see if I can find the link for that ...

Sorry - you can only track the vessel so I see, not the actual production ...

BMW build the X5 in South Carolina. e89s are built in Regensburg.

The moves went like this:

Z4 from SC to Regensburg, Germany.
X3 from Graz Austria to SC.
MINI Countryman --- Production begins at Graz.

The Graz plant is owned by Magna Steyr. They do contract engineering and manufacturing for several manufacturers, including BMW.

To make things just a little more confusing, the "Spartanburg" plant is located in Greer SC. The mailing address is in Spartanburg.

Looks like this has eventually got the go ahead. I gave up waiting on it. But it might help you out if you have iPhone. Use it with the BMW app and it controls phone, stereo etc.

Pictures of I with I link thing

Looks interesting. Wonder if they could mount it in the little storage cupboard thingy on top of the dash.

I have emailed the dealer for further info and prices but dont expect it to be cheap. The hardware or the app..

Thanks for sharing the info shambolic

The link you posted is on bmw.com and not bmw.co.uk. As soon as you select UK on the drop down menu it is nowhere to be seen.

I will await my dealers feedback on it.

Be typical if its not available in the UK :headbang:

I had my TT hard wired into my Zed for £80. Not wires visible perfect location and above all..... None of the Garmin crap.
Sorry but working for TT, our devices and features far out weigh Garmin's, I have a full BMW directory stored on mine as POI's (Points of interest), I have a BMW logo on start up screen.

Put your money into a better device would be my opinion.

I just replaced my TT with a Garmin (2390) :poke:
It comes with an active holder anyway. I've bought a Brodit mount (not fitted it yet though) and would have thought that the charging cable could be wired in by an auto-electrician pretty easily. Certainly you could do it for less than £490 all in, and probably have a more elegant solution than that in the first picture.

I just use a navman ic750 both here and abroad hasn't got me lost yet these can be picked up cheap now, wouldn't dream of paying out that kind of money damn near get another decent car , just my option ( tight scotsman) :D

Hi JDM,

I'm just wondering if you got the semi intergrated nav in the end? If so, was it any good? Integration, such as does it cut off music if reading out directions. Charges only when docked and engine started?

Thanks,

Will

JDM got it fitted ,saw it in the car at the national meet it looked good
Sorry no answers to the rest of your questions

Cheers Metal Killer, I went for it in the end. It was a decent compromise, just like the idea of wire free sat nav.

Hi Will, the unit was brilliant. Had voice control and yes it cut out the stereo when talking, charged only with ignition on, changed contrast automatically at night time. I even altered it to show a white E89 as the car. Great unit.
