Semi Integrated Nav anyone??

Yes it may well be very good but is it really worth almost 8% of the value of JDM cars list price

When I bought mine the sat nav pro was thrown in for free (which was the the amount of discount I negotiated) , but after having it, I couldn't consider a Zed without it... If that makes sense?

Of course it is, the music, the iPod integration, the radio, the board computer control, the sat nab, the phone, reverse camera and so on.

Or are you going to be the E89 equivalent of flimper? :poke:

Reverse camera????

Yes - I ordered that option on my X5 (including side view camera), so the nav screen is not just a navigation screen but does so much more which is why it is worth its money.

I would not want to be without it to be honest, the screen adds so much to the driving experience and fun. You have to admit that the Z is all about fun, not practical and value for money. So the screen is just another part of that.

I use copilot, but the routing is really shite.

True it can sometimes be a tad stupid, however with premium you can easily review the route and it gives you two alternate routes as well

I have this, but even the two options aren't often the best routes either.

John - At that price I'd go fo it. We use a garmin nuvi in the red zed and it's a great bit of kit (£120 ish iirc) but the charging wires and window mounts make it slightly messy to use, so I'd spend that amount of cash for something more integrated if you need a nav and will keep the car for awhile - wonder what can be done in an e86 (Ruth's is flimper spec)

Check this link out as no 1 may be of some use:

I think its alot of money for a halfway house and no different than a standard portable nav, you still have too detach it etc if you don't want it on view when not being used. Seems a bit of a BMW mark up to me to have BMW written on it.

I used a Garmin Nuvi with the Ecoroute HD plugged into the OBD socket synced via bluetoothin the 1 Series, the unit was mounted on a vent holder and worked great. The battery on the Nuvi's last for ages on full charge so never have it plugged into the car charging, so long as you remember too charge it beforehand :P

Some pics of when I had it in the 1 Series,

Need too try it on the Z3 as its the daily driver for now :)

Arh, but I don't think it applies to the Z4. PLEASE tell me I'm wrong! My 1'er has Pro Nav and camera wasn't an option (think it is on the new 1 series though) and I didn't see anything about camera's on the Z4 pages when I specced it up.

So now I'm toying with the idea of dropping the comfort package and adding in the nav with Internet access. Really fancy the dimming mirrors and extended lighting though but could spec those separately I suppose. Need to make my mind up though as car is due to he built week 12 which I think is week after next :?

I've got the sat nav on the wifes e90 and she doesnt like it !
Anywhere she go's she uses my tom tom,so didnt bother putting it in the z :)

Spoke with BMW this morning and its too late to change any of the spec... :headbang:

Apparently it's been sitting at "1200" (whatever that is) since the 28th February so when they tried to apply a change it just spat it back at them and said "No Chance Mate"

So its either the portable nav option or make do with an aftermarket one that sticks to the windscreen.

I had this on my order - I tried to alter it to add heated steering wheel, and was told it was too late - even though the build hadn't started, the parts were being checked ready for build.

Bit off if you ask me, its your car after all. ok, I know they have processes etc, but you should be allowed to make changes, even if it means your order gets pushed back a bit.

I'm sure it has to do with supply logistics. Seems like a very long time for it to be sitting in 1200 status though. Not that I understand the new codes very well. Last time we ordered a BMW they were using 3 digit codes.

Was looking earlier to see if there was any way you can track the order. Appears you can in the US but not here in the UK?? WTF?? :headbang:

The US website tracking is useless. The toll free phone number isn't too bad, but the only reliable way to get status is the same as the UK -- phone your dealer and ask them to check.

I have been calling the dealer but I can get a little obsessive with these things and dont like pestering. I would much rather be able to track it myself. I think BMW are missing a link here and I think a few customers would love the oportunity of tracking the car through its every stage so dealers didnt have to be pestered.

Maybe they should go a little further and have a live web link camera in each of their areas so you could watch live..

Just a thought. Maybe it's just me who's that sad!
