Selling my Z. Convince me to get another one!

;) I'll get my Excel sheet out right away...

While the e85/86 may have been built in the good ol' boys US, the e89 is not.

Doe Vettes go round corners now?

They've been going around corners since the C5 came out. Don't believe everything you hear! I've driven a ZR1 and a Grand Sport (Pretty much a base with some Z06 parts). Both blew the doors off my Z4.

The Z4 is a luxury cruiser, but the Corvette is a sports car. The interior is absolute crap, but at this point in my life, I don't need luxury or a comfortable ride. They're also dirt cheap to maintain and run. A friend of mine has a 35is with an stage 2 tune (ESS, I think.) that I will drive before I make my decision, but I doubt that it'll change my mind.

And Tim, I used to scoff at Corvettes, dismissing them as a nice engine thrown in a plastic car. After doing my research, and having driven them, I could not have been more wrong. Yes, it doesn't offer the same comforts as the Z, but it is a better drivers car in every imaginable way. With magnetic ride control, sticky stock tires( I have to deal with goddamn RFTs again :headbang: ), huge brakes, a limited slip differential, heads up display, ability to create a G of cornering force, and a #93 spot on the Nurburgring lap records.(Impressive when you consider what kind cars hit the Nurburgring.) I think the ZR1 is top 20.

And I'm pretty sure the E85/E86 were built at the Spartanburg plant in one of the Carolinas while the E89 is built in Regensburg, Germany. Someone will have to google it to make sure.

That's correct

I too have always loved Corvettes ever since I first saw a Stingray as a boy. They are of course prone to removing arms from 80s rock band drummers but no car is perfect.

I think I am going to have to add an E92 M3 to list. It seems like the perfect car to bridge the gap between the luxury of the Z4 and performance of the Corvette. Plus, it has a backseat....for activities.

Actually they do... ever since the major revamp of style and engineering (I think they fired the old guard) the Vette is now considered a supercar (entry level IMHO)

However, it's still a chevy.... and that means a definite NO in my world. ( bad memories of being ripped off and lied to ....)

Yeah, Chevrolet customer service is among the worst. In the world. Ever. (No experience with them, but this is just the general consensus.)

I guess it's the vette if you only want to go in straight lines

I find it hilarious that you probably haven't even driven a Corvette.

The bone stock C6 Vette puts down better times than an M3 in any category. What chance do our Zs have?

If you're considering a Yank car then probably the Zed isn't for you, I think if you put your question on ZPost you will receive more favourable answers  Us Brits are probably not as passionate regarding American cars, probably for the some of the reasons already given on here :)

Tim.

Who cares about left hand drive though? I drove LHD for years in the UK and it makes no difference really.

It's funny, if you said a Vette a week ago I would have said no way, but when in Vegas last week, I heard one pulling out from a hotel.....wow!!!

Not sure you've been reading the same thread as everybody else Tim :poke:

Vote for the vette here too.
