Selling - Appreciate A Quick Response

Hi, I have a potential buyer with me now looking to buy my car.

My car is a 3.0si Sport and my BMW service history receipts list the car as the same, however my log book says Si SE.

My buyer is worried that the log book does not state Sport even though car is a Sport and has all of the Sport options, but he is worried that it does not say Sport on the actual log book.

I completely understand his point and concern and would love if someone could clarify this. It's either a mistake on the log book or the revenue department don't put Sport on it... can anyone confirm?

Thanks so much in advance.

On my V5 the model .D3 section is blank. The description only goes as far as Coupe and type approval. It is definitely a 'sport' not an SE. The vin decoder has all the sports options ( M seats and suspension) present.

Hope this helps

Mine is a sport (BMW has verified) but just says si coupe on log book and BMW warranty site.

Insurance say si se as that's their databases say, though they've put a note that I think it is a sport.

I entered many reg plates from sport coupes for sale into insurance comparison sites and a lot of the later ones came up as si se which put my mind at rest.

I think the log book just shows whatever the dealer put when registering it.

my log book as no reference to sport although it is

D3 Model Z4 3.0SI COUPE AUTO
D5 COUPE

Ok when i enter my VIN (LF68276) on the site here - http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html - it says 3.0si and lists all of the M Sport options that it has, but it does not say Sport anywhere, should it?

Mine doesn't say sport anywhere on the VIN decode but all the options are there for 'sport' . Therefore it is a 'sport' because these are the options that differentiate it from an SE. Ie M suspension and seat options (and the multi-function SW ). The Si refers only to the N52 power plant.

its not unheard of for log books to be wrong...was a big issue on some jaguars in 2006-2008 ( I has a jag sport but was listed at a sovereign....which worked out well come PX time :-) ) a VIN check is more reliable

Unless somebody buys an SE and then adds all the sport options. And it has been done.

Yes but the options would not appear on the VIN decoder The VIN list shows how the Zed left the boys and girls in Spartenburg no ? So if it left the BMW plant with all the sport bits then it is a sport. The only difference between the sport and SE is those options !

All the options specified are listed on the vin check so an SE could appear to look like a sport model.

The one linked though appears to shows the options separately though so this would differentiate the two as for a sport model they would be listed as standard.
