Many on here delete details of number plates yet post photographs of their pride and joy outside their home front door etc. ive just added a photograph from the site into my photo album - with nothing more than a swipe I could see the exact location - If I was a rogue and wanted to steal a car I could find a few on this site - personally I'm going to try and remember not to post any pictures of my car at a location where it's likely to be found on a regular basis.

If I was a rouge I'd be out driving around the streets with a weapon of some sort , knock on the door and then persuade the owner to give me the keys , if they want it they'll know where it's at and will take it . I know someone who had the knock , give it up , it's just a car and not worth a kicking or worse .

Paul, if you were a rouge you'd be part of an old lady's make-up kit!!

So you can't possibly be a rogue!! But I know what you mean - I don't think too many cars are stolen without the keys these days.

It's easier to get into the house for the keys then just drive the car away. Mind you it went wrong for some scrote last year - he got a VW key from one of my neighbour's houses that had a new Golf GTi outside, but the spaces aren't aligned to the houses so the key he nicked was for a W-reg Golf V6 4-Motion! That car wasn't nicked, but it was the only key the owner had. :(

I'm not a rogue , but I'm defo rouge blushing at this spell check !
But you know where I'm coming from , bad lads these days are properly bad , knock knock , who's there ? GIVE ME THE FUCKING KEYS NOW

They would have to uncover my car and then move another car to have a chance, Oh and I wouldn't just hand over the keys either

All I'm saying is a photo taken outside the home shows with some detail the location of a car - be it garaged or not !

You'd be mad not to if they were serious .

Digital photos store information embedded in the image file - called EXIF data - which can include longitude and latitude . If you are concerned about it, you can use utilities such as EXIF Purge (a windows and mac tool, link here) to remove the data before posting. Of course, this doesn't help if you include your street sign and house number in the photo :D

I've been on the forum for 6 years now and can't remember many instances of Zeds being nicked. Anyone recall any?

Yep - Ian (sk93)

Thanks for that.....I seem to remember someone not getting there car back from Plod for a while after it was found....maybe Ian.
Do we think that Zeds are cars that would be targetted by thieves though?
Would be a tad more concerned if I owned a Porsche, M3,Range Rover etc.

Agreed but fully understand Rons concern. Just had a look to see if my 2 cars show up on Google Streetview. Must have only had one car when the Google car came around and I was out at the time. :D

Yeah - IIRC it was nicked and put in a lockup, potentially for breaking and selling on. Police sat on it for a while before Ian got it back.

Yep, true - would think these are more subject to opportunist thefts, rather than sought after target motors..

Can't say i understand this concern at all. IF someone wants to nick a car - they drive around and find the car they want.. Definitely faster than scouring z4-forum to find which drivers are local, then search their entire post history in the hope of a glimpse of their road name and house number...

All I'm saying is posting a photo with the digital info embedded gives a lot of information away!
It's more than the car !

Then I'm mad, I work hard for my stuff, no C@nt is going to walk away with anything, just by knocking on my door and demanding
