Picked it up the other evening.

Not quite as quick as I thought they were, but still not bad. Have already stubby'd it, just received my AUX cable which I'll pop on at some point tonight or tomorrow morning.

Sound Generator mod has been completed, I removed the section of foam nearest the dash. Took all of about 1 minute 30 seconds.

Will possibly rip off the cowel at some point to see if it has any of the wiring required for the Cruise Control mod, if not, I'll see what can be done.

Going to update the firmware on the Nav and get hold of some new maps for it as well, means I don't have to stick any other satnavs on the windscreen.
 
Welcome Seb. Nice Zed. Make sure you investigate the sound generator mod too. Might make you sound like you're going faster :thumbsup:

I think that's true of pre-Oct '04 cars? Some of them after that don't have the looms in I've been told!

I fitted the cruise control to an 06, it was a bit of a faff but simple enough using the info on here. It was about £80 for the switch and wiring.

I still find it amazing that you guys didn't even get cruise control as standard...

It seems odd that someone specced a car with navigation but not cruise :/

I agree, that too is curious. Then again having sat with my dad while specing his E89, I wouldn't be surprised if he forgot or had fallen off his chair when looking at the prices :lol:
 
Mine has Sat Nav but no cruise.......and I don't miss it all - I would not buy it as an option if I bought new unless it was critical for resale.

My 997 Turbo had cruise and I used it once (just to check it worked) and never again in 3 years of ownership.....

No immediate ones really other than updated maps and removal of the clutch delay valve!

Wheels are still looking quite good for their age so I shouldn't need to worry about them for a little bit. Trying not to spend too much on it though as ill never get the VX220 back on the road if I pour funds into this!!

You'll notice the difference with the CDV gone. Well worth the time to remove it :thumbsup:
