Seat Covers (e89)

Thanks ronk. Well spotted with the breed, she's indeed a Dogue De Bordeaux aka French Mastiff. Most people think she's a Bullmastiff. She's got rosettes several times at Crufts. Her head's a lot bigger now than in that photo and more drool unfortunately :)

My next door neighbour has one (a dog) I knew the proper name but didnt want to post a silly spelling!

The pup was the nicest pup I've seen and was very tempted at that time.
I have been offered a pup when he does the business tho and will be even more temping then I'm sure.

Don't get one unless the parents are fully health tested. They can get bad hip dysplasia, which costs a fortune to fix. Never bred my girls or used my boys as I'm not interested in breeding, I do know a lot of quality breeders, so if you do want one I can point you in the right direction.

These might be of use.

Or

Theyre not full seat covers but have to bear in mind side airbags which I wouldnt want covered. If the dog is travelling in the car then it will need a harness so a seat pad might be better solution.

Tim.

Cheers for that Tim they look like a better option... If I can get them light enough they'll not look out of place either...

Something like these would be OK, I'm sure they would fit the Zed or drop the seller a mail.

Thanks Mr TT!

They don't list Z4s on their web site so I emailed them a query.
Got a very prompt and helpful reply explaining their concern about seat belt mountings on the seat and inviting me to call and discuss.
Did so and have just ordered a single driver's one for when I am doing as SWMBO commands and keeping it clean
Given their company name I couldn't pass them over really :!:
Will post photos when it arrives.

Here we go:

The covers are substantial, very well made and a good fit being elasticated all around the base.
If anything they are a bit too heavy for the use I require but will keep it or lose £10 in postage on a £19 cover :(

Thanks for posting the pic Terry

Can I ask please, when you're in the seat does the cover pull tight around the bolsters and over the headrest? a problem I've had with seat covers in the past.

Does it allow for the airbag? and when you ordered which BMW model did you select?

Its looks well made so I may order one going from your piccie.

Thanks alot,

Tim.

No / Yes (slit at side) / Z4* :D

*But the Z4 isn't listed so I rang them and told them what I wanted.

Apparently there is a problem when the seat belt is attached to the seat so they like to discuss specific requirements.

The material is much heavier than I expected and in many ways too good for what I want.
All I was after is a quick chuck-it-over cover when for when I am working on the car and wanting to move it without having to get changed out of my overalls/jeans/wax engrained T-shirt etc.
It is a bit fiddly to fit as the cover has a full back (ideal for protecting the rear in a 4-seater) but not as easy to slide over in the confines of a roadster.
However on principle Tim, you should buy one for its name's sake like what I did

Brill thanks for your help Terry, will give your namesake a bell tomorrow :)

I'm not really a dog person, and I don't want this to sound like I'm having a go, but can I ask - regardless of how well-behaved someone thinks their dog is, is it really a sensible thing to have a dog in the front seat of a car?

It's illegal to have children in a car without them being secured in a proper car seat and I'm surprised that there aren't requirements for dogs to wear harnesses etc. It's dangerous enough when they're loose in the back of a saloon/hatchback but in the front seat sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Ah, so there are such things - do they hold the dog tightly so that it can't distract/interfere with the driver then?

If they're commonly available shouldn't they be compulsory whenever a dog is in a car - except I suppose, estate cars or hatchbacks with one of those dog-grill-things behind the rear seats?

We used to harness our 2 Dalmations when travelling and no problem whatsoever as they get used to it. No different to a person.
