Searching for "rare" spec

Hello all! I am in search of a "rare" spec of e89 z4. I use quotes because I think it is rare, and not impossible to find. But I am new to the space, so I haven't seen this spec yet. I want a 35i, with the manual, in atacama yellow, with the m sport package.

Am I better off repainted one, and doing an interior swap? I supposed that might even be cheaper or easier but I doubt those interior bits are easy to find

If anyone owns this spec, I would just love to know they exist. Thanks for any help or insight

That will be challenge…there were only around 40 possible 35i MSport manual in the period Atacama Yellow was used..of those AY would be a small percentage..globally around 1,200 AY E89s were ever built out of nearly 120k E89s..ie around 1%…


So that suggests maybe 1 or 2 if any AY UK 35i MSport manual existed..

I never noticed any AY 35i manual for sale as I prefer the DCT version..

Due to lack of numbers finding interiors may be hard work..

Opening up to DCTs will improve your odds a lot..

It's not just a yellow e89 he is looking for but a yellow 35i msport with a manual box which may be difficult.
There were only around 90 manual 35i models in this country to begin with and yellow will be a fraction of that number.

Other option buy a 23i in AY..quite common relatively then supercharge it!..6 cylinders..smooth..same power as 35i..result!

When I first had an over powering desire to have an AY E89 I saw a 30i..I did investigate at the time a bolt on supercharger..no quad exhaust..please :thumbsdown:

However it sold the very same day as it was listed and the next AY E89 I saw was my 20i..the rest is history..

The BMW six engines seem to take to supercharging well….

I think that means I also can’t get a 23i car. Any opinions on supercharging the 30i car? I can’t imagine the resale on that

Well that possibly complicates it more?

Yes, but unfortunately I love the interior of the atacama yellow cars. I suppose if one comes my way that is not an m sport, I wouldn't mind too much. The idea of supercharging the N/A cars is interesting. Although I can't find any supercharger kit for the N52

These are not investment cars—you're not going to get a high resale value out of them after 3-5 years unless you find a buyer who respects the maintenance/upgrades you put into them. Most of them are over or close to 10 years old. See this spend as more satisfying than gambling or other costly hobbies. AY is going to be at the higher end.

You can find a moddable Z4 close to $12k that you can put $5k+ into to improve and get it painted or wrapped... Interiors do show up on ebay now and then.
