I may be wrong but the Sport has a few more bhp methinks, maybe 30 or so . . as well as the other goodies. . . . .might be something to consider?

As far as im aware BHP wise there exactly the same, the differences between the two are 18" alloys, sport suspension, Spoert steering wheel, Sport seats and the sport has the darker headlining.

In terms of performance im told there identical.

So the only things this SE has missing is sport suspension, sport steering wheel and the 18" alloys which can be changed in time fiarly easily.

Im attracted to the low milage and the fact that its had 1 owner the sport has had 2 owners and obviously higher milage. So come resale time im thinking that the lower miles and less owners maybe slighty more attractive to a buyer.

M sport suspension is the optional extra on SE. But BMW may call SE's standard suspension "sport" (as in not termed "m-sport").

Like the seats, in the SE they are also called "Sports Seats" where as on Sport models they are "M Sport Seats"

I cant find any reference in the brochure though regarding SE suspension though :idunno:

Thats really good info on the link

Still doesn't tell us the description of SE's suspension though - could it be a deliverate omission to sell sports more?

Post-facelift the SE has non-M Sport suspension, it was listed in the options for the 3.0SE

Edit - Although I see what you are saying. Best described as non-M Sport suspension :)

Right, so it's a facelift change. Pre-facelift 3.0SE's had sport suspension as standard.

Sorry OP, taken us a bit OT there

I recon someone should do a test drive in similar specced Sport and SE (both wil have to have m-seats!) and see if they can feel the difference :)

Anyhow, I would use the fact SE is (atleast on option list) "inferior" to sport to drive the price down on SE and buy it for cheap

looking like sport is run away winner here.

I have to say im a little suprised by the result i thought lower milage car with decent spec may have edged it.

:?

Yep TBH I think the SE does ride a bit too high but this is easily sorted with a set of springs. Ditto the steering wheel and the alloys. Depends on how much cheaper it is over the Sport, or are they the same price?

Xenon lights definitely worth having though.

the sport is overall winner

but don't let that cloud your decision, you are buying the car for yourself, go with your gut feeling
