I agree. The ones over the moors are ok because you have good sightings of other cars so you can plan to pull in. The one by the coast are a real PITA; still worth the journey tho

It's one road in, and the same road out of this place. We re-trace out tracks for a few miles then, take the turn for Sanna beach.
The road to Sanna from Kilchoan goes through some of the oddest scenery in Scotland. The countryside is extremely rough going, but as you approach the tiny hamlet of Achnaha you find yourself on a flat heather-clad circular plain about two miles in diameter surrounded by a striking ring of sharply defined rocky hills. You are driving across the centre of the crater of a very long extinct volcano :eek3:

I was at Sanna a couple of years ago in the middle of summer with the sun beating down. I was at a wee beach to the left of the main one(look towards the sea) with white sand, blue sky and the sun it reminded me of the Caribbean right up until I got in the sea.... Did you try a paddle yourself.
The Hotel in Kilchoan has an aerial pic of the volcano and the rims from the various eruptions can easily be seen. It shows up on Google earth but the sun is a bit flat to show the details.
