Plus there is no scenery anywhere in England to compare with that on offer in Scotland (as a proud Englishman that hurts)

Come on Beachy Head has to be up there

I lived in Richmond North Yorkshire For 3 years when I was a kid, and have made numerous trips to the lakes and through the yokshire dales, And both have there own Beauty and would love to retire in one or the other.
Also travelled quite extensivly around Cornwall and Devon, Again both Gorgeous

In fact we are planning a drive down To York next year and I want to as much as possible stay off the main Roads and take a more scenic Route

Ahhhh, I wondered. I'm going to try and put together a definitive list of Scottish members for PM'ing about meets in future. I get email notifications about PM's but not sure everyone has them set up like that.

My photos are currently uploading (well, I hope so - left them uploading on the laptop at home...) so should have them up later today.

muppet- - Perhaps I should have sent you a pm? I did even think about posting this run on the CCC site.

Nice pictures and looks like you had a great day. Not sure where the animosity is coming from but ho-hum. :?

We all love our Zs the same.

playalistic - I think you're missing the humour here. Nothing at all has been made in anything other than "banter" mode, as I'm sure other members will agree. Guiseley seems to understand it fine :D. I don't think anyone is intentionally posting to stir anything up :)

35 out of 70-odd photos now on :P (photostream here http://www.flickr.com/photos/a11y_m/ but I'll be organising them at lunchtime). Blame BT for my crappy upload speed!

Oops, sense of humour bypass for me this morning

I grew up at the base of the Cleveland Hills and spent many a weekend camping and hiking in the Hills, North Yorkshire Moors & The Lakes as a kid, when I lived down south I travelled to Cornwall, Devon on numerous occaisions and travelled all over Hampshire, (my then home county), Surrey & Berkshire then moved to Suffolk, its all very pretty BUT and its a big but I have seen nothing in England to compare with what I have seen in trips to the Highlands of Scotland.

If you go that route just watch out in the border area there are stretches where there seems to be a speed camera every 1/2 mile or so for what seems to last an eternity.

Finally got them uploaded

All the photos are on this link HERE - if anyone who was there wants copies without the watermark in the bottom right, let me know).

I thought I was the only Sad . . sad person who did that

Our run on Sunday could almost be called the "Mary Queen of Scots Run"

On my way to the meet, I passed by Loch Leven, where Mary was imprisoned for a short time.
Then we met at South Queensferry, where Mary used to cross the Forth, going from Edinburgh Castle to her parents home in Falkland.
Not far from Queensferry is Linlithgow Palace, where Mary was born.
During our thrash round Fife, we passed by the ruins of Balmerino Abbey, where Mary studied and attended religious services with the monks.
We ended our run in the village of Falkland, and walked along past the Palace gates, where Mary spent her early childhood with her mother Marie de Guise. Her father James V died before she was one week old and Mary was crowned Queen of Scots before she was one year old.
Mary's mother was known as "Mother Goose" by the Scots, and some believe this to be the inspiration for the pantomime character.

One more boring fact for our English friends - Mary's son James VI became the first King of England and Scotland.
