Absolutely cracking day out yesterday folks - thanks to Rob for putting that route together, some excellent roads that I didn't know existed. The fish n chips and the weather just topped it off.

Hope you all enjoyed the rest of the drive - I just followed my sat nav back directly from Anstruther (hence the veering off onto the backroad at speed ), although it was the same route I used to use to/from Crail many years ago. Made it home in time to go snowboarding, all was good 8)

Good idea on the people shots Malc - funnily there's usually a focus on the cars on forum photos

I've yet to download the camera but that's a job for tonight.

Had a great day with some great roads and outstanding weather - good job Rob - much appreciated. Anstruther fish & chips on the beach at end October were outstanding.

Some great pics there Malc and others - I'm rather miffed my recently repaired camera (Canon 350D) crashed - new one required. Will upload some of those shots that did work later.

Nosa - usual over dramatisation I note - you writing for a Sunday red top now ? I was some way off killing the poor kid on the bike - no children or cycles were damaged struck or distressed at those dizzy reverse car park speeds - honestly an invisible child comes out of nowhere in some low winter sun and I'm castigated as a villain - he did apologise to me remember !!

Oh - good coffee stops too - - my apologies for the lengthy garden centre stop - wasn't intentional - just needed a quick word.

Off topic I know but anyone else got zenons - mine kinda failed on the way home - refusing to level if that makes sense and remaining ultra dipped... some research needed. :headbang:

BMW Z4 Driver almost wipes out child population of St Andrews

Me,,, Over dramatising, surely you jest

All - Really enjoying looking through the photos (and reading the post meet banter  ) on both meets that happened yesterday (Scotland & Sussex/Kent) but I'm wondering if you're all playing up to stereotypes?

One had a collection a mostly pre-facelift motors with the owners chatting about fish & chips, whilst the other had Lotus, New Z's, M's etc. and the chat about GPS tracking.

As I'm stuck in the middle (geographically) I've got a foot in both camps, and not wishing to 'needle' anyone - it just made me chuckle.

p.s. Beautiful scenery and weather too  hope I'm still welcomed at the next ones :exitright:

  That made me larf

Strange I know, but I was not even looking at things like MPG miles covered, etc etc, I just really enjoyed the Drive. Though I have to say I was under strict orders from SWMBO (Amanda) to remain at the back of the group, after our past 2 meets and in places some spirited driving trying to kkep up with the pack, Some slightly risky overtaking etc, she was not in the mood yesterday to be flung around the cockpit, my sport button was not on at any point yesterday :(

Glad you enjoyed the photos .... What we didn't mention is the reason we could park in frontof that golf course is that we are all members :P ...... Come and make a weekend of it to islay next summer.

As an Englishman occaisionally living in Scotland and having spent many years living in the South of England, I feel in an unequaled position to answer your qustions.

One the subject of pre-facelift vs post and even new Z4's, I bought my Z4 new while living in Suffolk, I will never buy a new again, we'll just let the overpaid southerners pay over the top prices and then we'll pick up the same car at less than half price a couple of years down the line. who's daft now.

We don't need GPS north of the border because we have the intelligence not to get lost, see above ref buying new vs pre-enjoyed.

As for the fish & chips, well it was a multiple award winning chippy and the sun was shining and it would have been rude not to.

Plus there is no scenery anywhere in England to compare with that on offer in Scotland (as a proud Englishman that hurts)

hope that answers your questions, with tongue very firmly in cheek. :D

+1 - Nice to put some faces to names (Hope no-one wants their details blurring?!)

Good stuff - hoped it would be taken that way - look forward to making you laugh in person in Islay next summer

RichardG - Good to see I've stirred you up too - hope I get this much banter in return on the other topic (where I posted the same remark!) :fuelfire:

p.s. The meet I had a hand in organising included a stop at a chippy too - The Magpie in Whitby does the best fish & chips south of the border :!:

Perhaps not playing up to stereotypes as much as well and truely reinforcing them (at least up here) - a great fish supper, sitting on the harbour wall, with weather like that. All I was missing was a can of Irn-Bru

 Not stirred up, just bored sitting in a hotel over along Public Holiday weekend, if anything I was trying stir things up a bit myself so I might repost on the Southern side aswell and see what response I get. :fuelfire:

I didn't think you were particularly hanging around yesterday?! Technically it's more difficult to keep up if you're at the back of the pack: you've usually got more overtakes to make as slower cars interupt the convoy (as happened yesterday), you get delayed more by slower vehicles ahead, and if you're slower in general than the front runners then you'll obviously be left behind!

Agreed, but as I knew the way to each destination I was not worried about getting left too far behind if I got stuck behind someone. so my line of thinking was If I am in the middle or front then I feel obliged to get past slower vehicles for the sake of the rest of the group, But at the back then no such pressure
