Scotland & Independence

Look what it did for North and South Korea! :P

I also had someone ask where I work if they had to take a passport to go to Scotland!!! :o

We are four countrys and one nation, I am Scottish and I am British, dis regarding the financial implosion Salmond (nob-end) would cause, not to mention being in front of Nick Clegg in the queue to drop his pants and bend over to take a good stiffing from Brussels, but disregarding that my thoughts are this.
This Union has been 300 years in the making contrary to popular belief we were not beaten into submission to join the union, we entered it willingly, and since then we have never been stronger, and to leave it would be HUGE mistake.
As for those south of the border who believe we are a financial drain on England, if you wish to make those accusations then get get your facts right, per head of population we pay more ito the British economy than both Wales and NI combined.
Its that kind of thinking that causes animosity across the border,
Last year alone I met 4 people from work up working from down south who had brought their passports with them because they honestly believed you needed it to cross into Scotland :headbang: :headbang:

I do however agree with one thing Salmond has said, Cameron needs to STFU. He is in severe Danger of waking the Sleeping Jacobites who belive we can all live on the whisky and oil.
We are a grown up country and I am sure the intelligent outweigh the idiots and we will make the right decision

Brilliant !!

I've never known anyone Scottish ask if they needed a passport to go to England? :tumbleweed:

Bing I think you may have the wrong end if the stick to my comment , I was actually with tongue in cheek agreeing with you or more to the point how the politicians will be when said comment actually happens . I don't get this wanting to be independent thing, I as a proud Englishman don't want independence from scotland , Wales or N Ireland it will just cost a shed load of money to fix something which it's broken , maybe only running in 5 of the 6 cylinders but that's about it . Money better spent els where .

Scottish tax will rocket to pay for the free healthcare / universities etc currently paid for my the rest of the UK 8)

I am British and want to stay that way, the alliance is what made Britain great. I just think that Scotland should move its parliment to Ibrox where God and the Queen are welcome.

Scotts think they have the right to do anything though so it wouldn't enter into their heads! :P

I'm in favour of us all sticking together, but would it make much difference to the remaining UK if the Scottish did go independent? Surely for the people (not the people in power) it could make things worse! What if the Scottish parliament decided, for instance, to join the Euro??

I believe Salmond has already indicated that we would be getting the Euro if independance was gained.

I think we only have to look at the complete and utter mess that was made of the Scottish parlament building (that still boils my piss) and the diabolical mess made of the tram system in Edinburgh to give us a foresight of how Scottish politicians would treat our Money. next we have the new Forth road bridge, God only knows how many Billions over budget that is going to go.
The SNP promised us that they would scrap the bridge tolls on the forth, They did and now they are bringing them back, No big surprise really coz they have even less of a clue what they are doing than any other politician (regardless of nationality).
I would say that if we gained independance that I would move to Engerland but alas the last time I lived there I was made to feel as welcome as a pork chop at a jewish wedding just because of my accent.
Whilst I think there is a large proportion of incorrect assumptions made by the English about the Scots I don't blame them, I blame their media for what does amount to Racial inaccuracies, and as a proud and patriotic Scot I can also understand anyone being Patriotic about their own Country.
I have said it before and I will say it again,
There will be no peace on this planet until the last politician has been strangled to death with the guts of the last holyman.

The SNP were voted in by a majority who believed we were always being shafted by westminster, what they failed to understand was that so were large parts of England, Wales and NI.

I just don't get why we can't all just put the past behind us and get on with the job in hand of creating jobs industry and wealth for all in Britain.
I do however feel that Britain will NEVER be great again until we Ditch Europe and its crippiling policies and Taxes and start fighting for ourselves again.

Nosa for PM

I never met a Brit or a Scot that I didn't like.
Can't we all just be friends ?
That's the Canadian way!

Now if you want to argue the weather ...Pull up a chair!
Isn't that what a Roadster is all about ?
If every Z had heated seats there wouldn't ever be an argument.
Well maybe X Drive might help too.

No worries - I know it was tongue in cheek, I was just having a friendly dig back... Perhaps I should have used a friendly smiley :D

I quite often find myself getting into arguments without realising it until it's too late - 'sometimes overly-direct humour' my boss calls it

I am a Scot married to a Malaysian Chinese woman with a 'half-caste' (I HATE that phrase) son living in The Garden of England, recently described (and I paraphrase very loosely here) as a virtual suburb of Eastern Europe. It's not, but there is a lot of anti-immigrant feeling, and my wife cops a moderate amount of rude / dismissive / offensive behaviour that 'boils my piss', to borrow a frankly brilliant Nosa-ism. However - and this is my point - I rarely feel unwelcome, except when I try to spend a Scottish banknote (now THAT flash-boils my piss), and I really think most supposed tension between the English and everyone else is just banter, based on a history of us kicking 10 bells out of each other - we're actually quite good mates. We don't need idiots like Salmond trying to divide us, or DavNick CamClegg trying to reasonable us to death, we need someone who will acknowledge our differences and pull us together.

To that end - x2 Nosa for PM... It's just such a shame that Mr Brown besmirched the good name of Fifers so thoroughly :(

And finally - roll on 4th February @ Murrayfield

Brown was a Fud, pure and simple but far more intelligent than Salmond, and look at mess Brown made.

We're Doomed.

I am loving this thread :D

I once offered a Scottish £20 in a London Hotel (City Inn Westminster IIRC) and was told that they only accepted English notes or EUROS??? :o

This is probably the only time where being Scottish has been awkward. Other than that no issues

On the whole,i think Scotland and the UK are better together...despite the fact i am a very patriotic Scot. while it might be nice,i think we will be better of as we are, with a Scottish parliament and nothing more, given that financially we would be worse off.
