As someone else said the difference between 50 and 80 is hardly going to slash drink driving deaths. The cynic in me says it's all about the Scottish government going out of its way to be different from the rest of the UK.
You say all this about drinking several times a week and never driving if you are going to have a drink, but what about the next day going to work, do you drive to work?ESP said:It might upset some people but lowering the limit is a great thing.
I go out drinking serve real times a week and I love going out with my mates of a weekend. But I have never felt it would in anyway be ok or acceptable to drive, if I drink I walk or get a cab! Iv always had it drummed into me that drinking and driving (even just a couple) is a seriously bad unacceptable irresponsible thing. If you knowing know your going to be having a drink why would you take the car, unless your lazy or irresponsible.
If anyone thinks this is not correct, find someone that has lost a family member to a drink (not drunk) driver and ask them.
I assume you mean the reaction times double rather than half - assuming this what is your source for this info ?ESP said:Jonny essex said:If you drink half a larger, these reactions almost half, but legally your still aloud to drive.
Half of a larger what?Jasey said:I assume you mean the reaction times double rather than half - assuming this what is your source for this info ?ESP said:Jonny essex said:If you drink half a larger, these reactions almost half, but legally your still aloud to drive.

If you do you could quite possibly be over the limit depending on what you had to drink the previous night and when you had your last drink.
If the rule of thumb is 12 hours from your last drink and you leave for work at 7am, your last drink has to be 7pm. Whats the point of drinking in the first place?
I very rarely drink at all but it has always worried me that the next day I could be over the limit so never drink when I know I will be driving the next day.
I think its definately time for a lot of people to change their habits as it just isnt worth it.
