Scoring on windows MC?

Anyone else got this on theirs?

I'm assuming they comes with a factory tint or something? Right at the back edge of the windows on both sides there is some scoring lines which looks like it is in the tint. It looks like it is being done inside the door mechanism, or perhaps because the rubber seal is too tight as it goes up and down.

I will try get a pic of it.

Are you sure it's scoring and not just lines of dried grease from the mechanism - as that seems to be a common occurrence.

Well i did clean it recently including inside and out, and the lines are still there. Although i have to admit i only gave it a quick wipe over with a microfiber so its possible it is grease of some form. Will take a closer look this eve and try give it a better clean and report back.

Yes, I have similar lines on my coupe, although they're shorter. And it's definitely scoring as you can run your fingernail over it and feel the grooves. Doesn't really bother me as yet, so I haven't looked into a fix, but I might in the fullness of time.

Yes mine are shorter than those pictured, and more towards the rear of the window. The thing is if i were to have the tints re-done, then i fear it would only come back again in a few months time. So do we just have to live with it?

Either way i will check tonight if it is indeed grease marks or scoring.

I have this too, but very close to the front of the window, and thus only about 8cm long, and mine is only pretty much 1cm wide, there are 2 stripes on mine.. both sides of the car.. mine is on the inside of the window.. and thus comes back after you tint.. its def in the glass, I've tried pretty darn hard to get it off..

I get the smear on both windows. I assumed it was from the window rubbers so was going to replace them.?

yes, some markings on mine, too. Not as long as the first pics and between the middle and the front of the windows. Only had a quick look yesterday in the dark so not a great deal of attention was paid. I was thinking, like ITAG, of sticking something down between the windows trim/rubber and the window (inside and out) and trying to remove and sand particles or the like which might be trapped. There was some evidence of the marks rubbing off last night just with my thumb, although I would expect it will be difficult to remove all of the marks completely. Would be more of an issue, however, if the marks were on the front screen ofc

I had very bad vertical scoring on mine, there was no way it was going to be polished out. I ended up replacing both windows.

What's the cost on that then? Sorry, being lazy. Mine won't merit a replacement yet either way. Just interested. I wonder whether non-M windows are cheaper...?

About £190 for the windows only. I got them fitted for no cost whilst other warranty work was done on the doors.

Checked mine and it's grease from within the window mechanism. There are a few faint scratches which I'm sure is from grit with in the window rubbers. Mine will polish out.

Going to get a price for window rubbers and maybe do a group buy?

Decided this needs doing on mine so booked car into Brystones to sort. I get an occasional film of grease on the left window which then dries and has to be wiped off with a cloth. Thought I better do both sides as a precautionary measure.

Its not cheap to do (£160 + Labour) both door inners are removed to replace. I can confirm the parts both sides of the glass come in the kit.

I'm looking at £250 however I don't want to get to the point where it would be scratching the windows....As that would be more of a ball ache!
