Most of them were M versions and I had the misfortune to try and race one in my Z3 3.0. It lasted about 1.5 seconds and I was trash on the side of the road. I always thought they looked awful but they were great cars. and very collectible (worth many $$$)

Weren't they all M's? I'm sure they were in the UK as they were often referred to as the M Coupe. Affectionately called the bread van.

Very rare to see one. I could probably count the number i've seen on 1 hand. Like the 1M it's a car that seemed to gain instant classic status. I'd love one, supposedly fantastic to drive.

Great cars

I think they were only M's in the UK but 2.8 & 3.0 available in other countries.

I came close to buying a 1999 Z3M roadster, saw a fantastic one 80k FSH silver black leather. Quirkier than the Z4, I like 'em, never thought they drove as nice though.

The Z3MR had a reputation for ripping intself to peices, boot first. Basicaly the chasis and body wasn't rigid enough to haddle the engine torque. I gather the coupe was a much better drivers car. :driving:

Never driven either though, only the 3,0,roadster which demonstrated a total lack of any communication through the steering wheel, when trying to go around corners.

I have a book in my study and it suggests the Z3 is a BMW parts bin special !

(All the Z3 enthusiasts please don't shoot me I'm only the messenger - but the bread van version seems to confirm it)

Here is one i saw in Munich. I took a picture due to them being rare in the Uk and most are M models.
Me and my BMW anorak

I like the shooting brake design

I had an estoril blue MCoupe with blue/ black leather for about 6 years, when I lived in London. I loved that car and really didn't want to sell it. I had to in the end as I moved to Seattle. I ended up buying a z4 MCoupe. It's a much better car, but to be honest I really still have a soft spot for the breadvan. She always got admiring glances everywhere we went. We had many fun Le Mans trips! :driving:

The one above is a 2.8.

The M coupe is just as well renowned for ripping itself apart. Have to be very very careful buying these. Plus there was an S54 variant but there are only 50 odd in the UK. When I got my Z4M my mate was after one but finding a good one is hard work and fettling them is expensive. They respond well to a suspension refresh most need bodywork and structural as if the boot hasn't been sorted its worth doing anyway...

Lovely car but just not worth the money now.

I love these and one day I'll buy one to go with my Z4MC...if I can find a reasonable one at a reasonable price!

Yeah there's an old muscle car I'd love to own, (Superbird), they were ugly a$$ cars when they were made in 1970 and came in horrible colors when made but I still.... They were only built for 1 year and only sold to the public so Plymouth could use them in Nascar.

Crazy prices for them now around $200,000
