I want to fit a sat/nav in my 2006 2.0 E85 anyone got any tips or suggestions what type and where to fit? Cut into top of dash? Cheers in advance 😉

Use a smartphone an a brodit mount,
If you want to retro fit the factory unit , you'd have look at breakers to get the parts but will still struggle to get a wiring loom

Seriously?
I have satnav and NEVER use it. Its crap in comparison to smartphone/google maps.
Save urself the bother and do a ICE upgrade.

How does that replace the standard system/screen?

BTW, in 10 years of considering a better HU (with DAB) I’ve not seen an aftermarket bezel that looks like it fits properly...and what do you do about the unit blocking your central air vents.

Magnetic phone mount on top of the dash and google maps. No air vents being blocked, keep the clean lines of the interior and use the extra £££ youd spend fitting a crap integrated/oem system on some decent upgrades/fuel :)

I wouldn't recommend it, but here is a link on the retro fit, also I'm attaching BMW Z4_nav-retro-fit pdf

change the attachment extension to pdf from jpg (couldn't attach it as pdf directly)

Have to agree. And the clean lines folk go on about are ruined as soon as you stick something on the dash or windscreen.

If I was do8ng from scratch again I think I would integrate a tablet into the OEM screen housing to keep as factory looking as possible.

This was not the question it was " I want to fit a sat/nav in my 2006 2.0 E85"

Also the screen on the unit can be adjusted down and out so it will not be completely blocking you air vents.

The OP also mentions about cutting into the dash, which suggests retrofitting OEM.
