cant seem to enable "birds eye view" on the sat nav screen, bought an upgrade on ebay which has given me full post codes, speed cams and suposedly birds eye view as well, have followed the instuctions to the secret menu and ticked perspective but when i am on a route instruction i still just get the basic black and white arrow type of screen. saw a sat nav screen on an interior shot on a car advertised on PH and the screen has birds eye view, looks so much better, any ideas ,? thanks. :?

If you are getting the basic black and white arrow type screen and not a map then you won't be able to get perspective view as you hven't got the professional nav.

When you are looking at the map, you still have to set the option on the screen to perspective as well. In the setup, you have only enabled the function - not activated it.

You have either direction of travel, north and perspective as the three options from memory.

Ah pvr , thanks, so which one do you suggest i go for,to give me birds eye view ? is it perspective, to activate it on screen what do i need to do? ,sorry to be so thick

thanks a lot , perspective is enabled and looking good, thats on show route map option; if i use split screen will it still show the basic b&w arrow instruction in one half and the route map in the other, also can you switch between the map screen and the arrow instruction screen, as the perspective map, set at 2.5 miles is'nt very detailed should i scale down a bit more, any suggestions, at the mo still not as good as tomtom

I keep mine split with te scale on 125 yards you get the arrow on the right hand side and a suitable scale on the map.

Perspective view isn't very useful to me since there are no street names being displayed. Just a bit of eye candy, IMHO. Wished we can have a minor upgrade just to add street names to perspective view :(

It will be interesting to see if that can be done. The map data is normally an encrypted database file set, and the add-ons like postcodes and speed cameras are poi databases added by a program like pimp-my-nav

I upgraded the firmware, enabled perspective through the secret menu but cant seem to get it back to top dwn birds eye view. Deselect in the secret menu but when I go back to the map its still in perspective.

All a bit pony.

inkeys , hi, what am i missing ? i thought perspective was birds eye view. i'm getting the map and beyond the land as i am near the coast i'm getting a bit of sea , sun and a few clouds, ....anyone? :?

anyone got apic to show how different the birds eye view looks? not sure if its really worth it....

The new nav systems as I have in the X5 are obviously far superior in looks. However, would still not want to be without the E85 build in one though, even though I have to blink a few times when I get back into that after the X5.

hi' got email back from russell; he advises that he keeps his scale around 1 mile and selects split screen, then street names are displayed on the right hand side, will try this and report back, am i allowed to post his email here or is that not forum cricket ?
