Run Flat Puncture Repair

Just had the warning light appear for low pressure and after removing the wheel found a 15mm long self tapper ( certain its one of mine that I dropped on the garage floor) firmly embedded in the tyre contact area. Unscrewed the self tapper and deflated the tyre and ordered a replacement RFT from ASDA tyres, about £115.00.
Long story cut short I've had the tyre repaired for £25.00 and feel reasonably confident that all is well and have cancelled the new one.
Am I being too tight or has anyone else done this?
The tyre by the way was almost new, less than 2000 miles.

Depends if you ran it flat or not. If not then fine, but otherwise I wouldn't as you don't know if it's been damaged or not.

As above, but the tyre guy would of advised you if the tyre was no good.

Repairs these days are very good, and TBH if the tyre was no good or the repair was too close to the edge they wouldn't of repaired it, not worth their time or rep.

Agree, if you ran on it then get a new one.

Thanks, definitely used, it was about 18 psi when I took it off and then zero when screw removed.
Also meant to say it was a rear tyre so I'm quite relaxed. :D

somebody told me that they don't repair tyres in Germany - hence all the part worn tyres in the UK ?
Fact or fiction - I don't know?

I was told by several of the mainstream tyre places that repair of a RF was not possible or dangerous. Load of B*****ks. Had two repaired on my previous 28i and both lasted for 2 years and were still good when I sold it. As long as the damage is not too close to the tyre wall then it's fine and £25 is spot on.

I wouldn't worry about using it.

I had a repaired run-flat on my 123d for over 15,000 miles with no problem.
