Rugby World Cup

Gutted- Ireland out, I'm from Belfast, Wales out (wife Welsh) and sooooooo gutted for the scots as they really deserved it today!

It's always tough supporting Scotland's national teams, footie, rugby & the Murrays . . .

But to lose today was so harsh and a with such a poor ref's decision was excruciating - some nice comments here from folks though - think I'll be joining Bing's tears . . . . :(

That TMO needs shooting. As Bing stated calling the ref to get Maitland yellow carded but doing nothing about hogg being taken out was a disgrace. I don't thing the organisers wanted Scotland to progress!

Great game though

It was a great game today, as was the Welsh yesterday.

Aside from that, you do have to wonder how the Southern Hemi teams always seem to pull it out of the bag at the death, and do the ' Powers that Be' want or ecen help them there.

The Yellow card for Scotland today was very questionable. All replays were only shown in Slow-Mo, not at real speed where a one handed gather looked like what was attempted. Then, like you say, the TMO never interjected on that last penalty when the ball clearly came off a yellow player and therefore was not an offside offence., which ultimatey may allow Australia to go on and win the tournamemt. The Ref had time whilst the penalty was being set to look closely at it and make an informed decision.

All credit to the Scots though. Great entertainment. I was gutted.

Don't forget the professional foul by the Aussie 9 when he passed the ball forward from a ruck to draw Richie Gray into what looked like an offside position... That was another 3 points gifted to them... Not bitter at all :D

Wow bloody hell just watched the whole game as couldn't see it live, no disrespect to Scotland but I didn't think they'd hold the Aussies like that and almost win to boot. That is a hell of a shame, the Scots played their guts out and deserved to win, in the disappointment they should feel proud, that's little consolation though obviously. Great game.

Interesting that everyone had Scotland as the underdogs, with good reason but in the last three encounters between the two Scotland have beaten Australia twice. Bit of a bogey team.

I'm all for a bit banter but I've read some horrific stuff from Australians and even some woman in SA which is just appauling. In fact the woman in SA started making up rubbish about the ref being pelted with bottles and coins on the pitch and that's why he left the pitch in a hurry and anyone who didn't agree with her, although she didn't see the match was a sore loosing Scottish person when most of them hailed from anywhere but Scotland.

The Australians are not any better with their comments. They don't even realise that they didn't play as well as they expected. My mate lives in Autralia, he didn't see the game like a lot of them due to the time over there but they've only seen 'highlights' which shown none of the incidents which have proved so controversial and although a Scot he thinks the ref did a good job? However the comments on social media are not showing their 'supporters' in a good light at all.

I always have banter against the 'auld enemy' and I don't hate England and I love the neutral support for two teams who are not your home nation and watching a good game of rugby but I actually hope that next weekend Australia get absolutely pumped.

If their coach and their supporters actually acknowledged that there had been mistakes which handed them the game and they acknowledged that they weren't the better team I would have a hell of a lot of respect for them.

Some amazing rugby has been played this tournament (so far). So many of the crucial games have come down to the dying minutes of the game, and the quality and intensity from the teams has been great to watch. Sad to see so many deserving teams knocked out - Scotland, Ireland, Wales and so on (and would have really loved to have seen Japan get a bit further - their showing this time around will do wonders for the next World Cup (which they are hosting), if they can manage to keep up the momentum until then).
The All Blacks will not be resting on their laurels, as SA are always a very tough opponent. And I think SA have a huge incentive - nothing short of winning the World Cup will redeem their performance against Japan in the eyes of their rugby-mad country. They will have their eyes very firmly on that Cup and will not let the AB's play as they did against France....

Well its all kicked off regarding Craig Joubert today.
Any reason for his swift exit, rather than staying on the pitch to shake hands with the players ?
Disgraceful. No-one was throwing coins or bottle that far out into the centre of the pitch, and rugby fans just dont do that.
Must be guilt. Watch him leave...

He's a pussy, he knew that he'd made the wrong decision and didn't have the balls to change it. So he ran off the pitch. An absolute disgrace and he should be sent home as such with a massive question-mark over his future career as one of the very few elite referees on the planet. I haven't heard of, or read, a single person defending him. Even World Rugby's statements have been weaker than American beer...

There's an online petition to ban him from ever entering Scotland too - brilliant

He was running to collect his winnings from Bet365 !

He's been problematic in the past - he a clown !

Between him & the TMO Scotland were stitched up - I'm surprised there doesn't seem to be anyone asking why the late challenge on Hogg wasn't investigated by the TMO - He was probably putting Joubert's bet on

Exactly he had no reason to do what he did. Funnily as I pointed out the comments re coins and bottles came from a South African woman on social media who hadn't even seen the game. Making it up as she went along.

I think he did realise. They even said he looked as if he realised before the kick and didn't want to make himself look stupid but he's now done far worse than that.

To be fair a lot of Autralians on Social media see nothing wrong with the ref and seem to insinuate that Scotland had Foley playing for them.......not actually admitting he was dying in the first half and the team is not of a World Cup winning standard.

As for being let into Scotland, the boy would be lynched!

Final nail now I think. To cause so much controversy at that level will not be tolerated if the governing bodies want to keep respect.

Well and truly stitched up. The TMO should have been reviewed for Hogg. That's the whole point. Issue seems to be supposedly the TMO supposedly couldn't be used for the last penalty due to how it was called but as it was dubious it should have been checked.

You seriously wonder what he had to gain by making the horrific decisions he did. He clearly knows he was wrong so was he bribed? I'm sure this will be something that will be looked at too.

Wouldn't surprise me if this was actually part of a betting scam !

The fact it was the TMO who contacted Joubert to get Maitland carded but saw nothing wrong with the "tackle" on Hogg stinks !!!
