Just giving you my thoughts and observations on owning the cars, I think every one likes a certain car for a certain reason looks power etc etc, I just want to own and try as many performance cars as i can,
Can not remember clios number but i know the guy i sold it to wrote it of after owning it for about 5 months and i did mean the ring was scary first time not the clio that was a little pussy cat,

I reckon it just depends on each car. I had two different Audis - an S6 and an A8 Sport before I got my 545i. Both Audis were pretty much bulletproof, reliability-wise - only ever needed servicing & tyres - and I kept the A8 up until about 130k miles.... the only problem was that neither were particularly involving to drive. Mind you, neither were RS models...
Where I did find the difference was with dealer customer service... afraid to say that Audi beat BMW hands down there... I would add that Soper BMW - who I have started using through Z4-forum recommendation - have been the exception to that rule...
I'll refrain from shaming the other (crap) dealers at the moment - but there have been a few!!
I think the comments so far make interesting reading, you are never going to get anyone who has a Z4MC to agree with you on the looks part, but from you perspective having owned both your opinion I found interesting.
We tend to get into the same arguments time and time again, BMW vs Audi, however for me the RS4 is one of the most practical fast cars you can buy, a pearless point to point car for the price and highly rated by most motoring journalists.

As an owner of both, agree AUDI's don't feel quite as connected driver>car>road as the beamers...
This said, whether its the RS4 or the other 4wd pretenders they do, on B roads they are immensely sure footed come sun, wind, rain or muck. Each time I drive my Zed I think oooh, could possibly do without my Quattro. Swap over, then think do I really need the Zed...

I'm been genuinely considering an RS4 for a while - was thinking of getting one this year, but had only had the Z one year and bonuses at my firm weren't what we'd hoping for.
Am taking my time this year to look at/explore the RS4.
I agree, it's far more understated that the Z, but that's part of the appeal for me - wolf in sheep's clothing, iron fist in velvet glove etc... :wink:
Need the extra space as mrs Psy is likely coming to live with me from later this year so we'll be doing more road trips w friends etc - something I miss not being able to do in the zed (and why a 911 isn't suitable for me now as my sole car).
Have looked at S5, but they seem a bit 'older mans' car.
There is a bannana yellow RS4 with ceramic brakes for sale on pistonheads - i actually quite like it, bit like the BMW Dakar yellow...
Ceramic brakes sound pretty cool too...
My A3 1.8T was a great car (then 330'vert, then the Zed) so I'd have no problem going back to Audi, as long as the spec, condition and milage were all great.

I am sure it is a nice car and in red it does look good, but Audi just don't do it for me, except the bonkers MTM-ed RS4s (V6 bi-turbo)...

With you on this, this is my old beast it was a FQ330 full upgrade
reckon it would eat the Z4M cannot comment on the RS4 ..... only downside is not for everyone ... do looka bit like a vectra :lol: it was sooooo quick
and handling is unreal ...is almost 0 fear when driving

yeah it was OK, handled and went very well but on every other front was less than average.... one car i lost VERY little money on however.....
I have had about 6 evo's, Evo's 4 to 9 the best one being a 8,MR 340 which was the best handling of all of them but for me they are a bit to hard for our B roads, a bit tail happy which is great fun for a bit of drifting but when pushing hard a bit disconcerting very very cheap inside but with a couple of mods (remap etc etc) very quick don't think they would be much quicker than coupe on a B road blast though, But going back a few years now i loved them hence owning so many along with lots of Subaru i think my age has put me of them now i am a bit to old for getting out of some thing with large spoilers and making a lot of noise,

ive got a real softspot for the z4m interior general, i love the cocooned inside, i love the design inside (even if it quality lacks overall imo) the overall design and ergonomics are great imo, a set of really high quality seats really finish it off imo

I love the RS4, particularly the Avant but was put off by the running costs. Your notes make me wonder if they were unfounded. I'm still thinking that a V8 M3 Coupe is next though.
Never quite understood fast fast Audi's. Very nice cars and can be made to go mighty fast, but not quite my cup of tea. A good friend had an old S4 & an RS4. Both highly modded, engines and brakes. Spent a day driving the S4 (430bhp) on a prodrive handling day and though it was easy to drive sideways, it was just a fast saloon. With little more room in the back than my old Fiat Coupe. Compared to a good 911 or even a humble Z4MR, the handling was pants IMO.
