I cant be the only one thinking, my chances of being the victim of a car key burglary/carjacking go up exponentially with one of these on the drive. This or an S3. I think I'd sleep easier with a Cayman or Boxster on the drive and both are much better drivers cars, can be used everyday, if you dont need the back seat of course!

As no one has driven the RS I think its hard to say what's the better drivers car. Any new car could be attractive to the thieves..BMW had this problem with the 1M.

I'd have to have the RS3 for its pace. Low 4s to 60 from a hatch is crazy and the interior is second-to-none if you're going to be sitting in it every day.

I am a fan of Ford RS models too, however.

I don't think you need to wait for a test drive, its pretty much nailed on that a mid engined Porsche is going to be a better drivers car than a breathed on Ford family hatch. If not Porsche needs some new engineers!

But in the mode of the thread, it's got to be up there as a top choice great daily practical driver, which is to say it's in addition to your special weekend car - Porsche / Ferrari or otherwise.

I like the Ford pedigree, rally history and all that but if I traded the M135i in for one I just know it would feel a big step down, any Ford interiors are nasty for starters which would depress me.

I don't understand taring all Audi's with this non drivers car shite, that's absolute bollox.
At least it wont fall apart when you close the door.
All Audi's bar the odd one or two are shite to drive though and that's an absolute fact unless you just don't care about driving dynamics, lovely interiors though I will give them that but as a drivers car they are completely soulless in my experience.

I actually think Ford are on a massive roll at the moment and I wouldn't say no to either a new Focus RS or the new Mustang V8, and the Fiesta ST is one of my favourite motors too. 8)

totally agree... they are killing it.,.. have you seen the 350R mustang?? :o :o :o :o :o :o :o they went balls deep on that car, bespoke 500hp engine, carbon wheels, proper car, id love one, the only problem with the modern ilk of fast ford is they are stupid to insure and get nicked all the time.

i am in love with the audi designs and quality, but the driving experiences just aren't their unless you can afford an r8.

its a painful reality but these modern hyper hatches will eat the average Sports car for breakfast, that focus will be a 500 quid tune away from kicking most n/a M cars and cayman/boxster into next week while having your weekend bags packed and the family loaded, its not forget the original intent of the thread, for a fast DD this type of car is unbeatable.

Build quality on the ST/RS range isn't the best however, not in the same league as VW/Audi etc.

FYI... i need to update my ST thread, more of the parts are on now.

Strangely I would say that is a more single purpose locust (sorry) car than the MR or MCoupe. It going to be way faster down a real road for a start. But apart from that it does nothing a Clio 1.2 can't do. We love taking the Zed out and just bumbling along on summer evenings until we find a quite pub for a meal. It just wouldn't work in something that in yer face. Way to noticeable to get away with any fun on the daily commute too. :(

Don't get me wrong I like it, but I have no use for it :? .

That was my point, Porsche's can easily be used as an everyday practical drivers car if you don't need the back seat. I used 2 Boxsters and a Cayman in exactly this way for many (8) years.

You introduced Ferrari's into the equation, now we are talking exotica and their not even close to the price point we are talking, either new or used.

Cheaper end Porsche's (used 2-4 years old Boxster/Caymans) are a credible alternative to a new RS in terms of price, insurance, fuel, servicing costs etc

But as I stated earlier for me one of my main concerns living in a big city is that a RS Ford, S or RS Audi, M BMW etc are more enticing to the criminal fraternity that a Boxster which is way too girly (like our Zeds) for them! Yet its a better drivers car.

All the both things considered and the fact the Porsches are purposed built sportcars as opposed to saloon/hatches who's primary design criteria is mundane family transport it becomes a no brainer really for me

:o

Obvious question, why are Fords so readily stealable?

Always been the case with fast Fords XR2/XR3s etc were all the nicking rage 30 years ago so nothing much has changed.

I no I shouldn't but I laughed out loud at that picture.

i don't understand with all the prestige cars why the fiesta ST is the go to target at the moment... its only a breathed on fiesta at the end of the day... kinda off putting tbh because it seems like its more of a matter of time that ill have my own attempt.

I live in London and park my cars in another street, , never outside my own home so burglars ( hopefully) wont get my keys

On the contrary, i want mine outside my window so i can see it!

Keys just stay hidden.

Or stick it in the garage if you have one, amazes me when people have their car nicked off their drive whilst their garage is full of junk.
