RR Evoque anyone?

what do my fellow minded owners think of a swap for an Evoque?

might seem a drastic change but one i am considering
Certainly stands out like the Zed and makes you feel as special behind the wheel

maybe its just all the hot weather has gone to my head. certainly had my fill of going topless this year

Spooky !!! I've got a test drive in a Z4 on Wednesday, but I've just been perusing the Evoque on the web...totally different..where to go ????

Breaker will be along shortly I'm sure - he made a similar change (albeit from a faster E89). He knows a LOT about the range too, so will be very helpful.

If you feel it's time for a change of type of car and you like the styling you won't find a better car! I am loving mine (even more than the Z4 to be honest).

I've put over 4,000 miles on it so far and hasn't put a foot wrong yet. Talking of reliability, that is better than my Z4 E89, as that broke down on the 2nd day of ownership! (the well documented HP fuel pump failure!)

Not really a bad car made these days but you can get the Friday car of any make. There was someone on here that posted about loads of things going wrong with their new Z4, and it is the same on any forum of any make.

Take a test drive. I'd go for the diesel auto also as the petrol could return worse MPG than my Z4 did! If you plan on carrying passengers in the back a few times, I'd go for the 5 door as the Coupe's seats are pretty slow at pulling forward and the gap could be a bit of a squeeze to get in if the passengers are not of an athletic build!

I went for the coupe as I like the look and you get the bonnet vents! :P They will surprise you on the handling also! The Dynamic mode firms up the suspension a lot, but I find it's almost to hard! The standard setup is great.

I have taken it off road a few time in Wales and it's very good!

Don't get me wrong, I loved the Z4's I've owned, but it was time for a change! I did a complete change! Went from a black 2 seater manual sports car, white interior, rear wheel drive with a 3L straight 6 petrol engine to a white 4x4 with a black interior, auto, 4 wheel drive, 2.2 L Diesel engine 5 seater!! Haven't regretted it once! :)

I think when you feel it's time to change then there is no looking back.

The trick is to have cars that push both buttons if you can we have the Mini Cooper Countryman which is nice to drive in a relaxed way and still handles like a BMW has plenty of room when needed and the Z for when I really want to drive something to give me a buzz. :D

I have a motorbike for that so that's sorted! :P

I did think of keeping the Z4 and selling the wife's MINI Cooper S and getting the Evoque, but I knew at the moment I would hardly drive the Z4 and it's too expensive a car to have sat on the drive all week! Better off with a Lotus 7 as a blast toy.

Personally I would go for an X3 or even better the Audi Q5... depends what you really need it for but the Q5 looks great and you can get some great engines if you need a bit of performance.

I personally cant stand the Evoque, it think its completely over styled and being brutally honest i think its a complete waste of money! They are horrendously over priced for what they are and having driven one and been a passenger in one, its smaller inside than a golf!

Sorry to be harsh breaker, im sure you love it, but to me its hideous .

JLR seem to be pricing themselves in a crazy way at the moment (but what do i know, they seem to sell anyway..) i saw the F-Type at the Wilton Supercar day yesterday, and yes its a nice car..... but it is not worth £76k!!! thats insanely expensive for what is in reality a rival for the Z4!!! (i dont buy that its a rival for the 911 or SL at all!!)

I agree the Evoques pricing is a joke for what your getting but then LR must still be paying off Beckham's handbag fee :P

Agee with above and would look at an X3/X5 although the Q5 looks tasty.

Tim.

Saw the new Ftype on top gear last night nice looking car but agree that its horribly over priced compared to a Z4 but they will probley sell by the shed load so what do I know :? plus he said the ride was a bit crap :(

Q3 is nice also. A mate of mine has one and I went in it for the first time yesterday. Not my style compared to the Evoque, but a nice place to be. Mind you, price one up to the same spec as an Evoque's standard spec and they come out around the same price without the off-road ability (if that what matters to you. It won't for most).

I agree about the F Type pricing, but I've been in one (not driving)! The Z4 is no where near that I can tell you!

To be fair I was thinking the same thing about the Evoque but I didnt want to be so blunt about it :o

Since this recent craze about 5/6 years ago (maybe more) when footballers starting buying range rover sports and "customising" them, the prices have rocketed. The sport is way too over priced for what it is. My brother had one and even the inside was so cheap in terms of the plastic they used and buttons were flimsy. The Vogue on the other hand is a different story, that is pure luxury.

I do believe the evoque is over priced mainly because Mrs Beckham "designed" it.

Having said that, I am sure the evoque is great for the right person and it people who do own them (the few that I know) do really like it. You pay a premium because it is so called "British" just like with Jags..

My suggestion would be get an s line Q5... great looks and performance and decent off road or possible an M Sport X3.

I tried an X3 before switching brands. For me it was a no. Nice car, but it didn't impress enough to swap the Z4 for personally. Not "different" enough.

Going back to the OP, try the X3 and Q3 (or even Q5) out also as a test drive, but you sound like me when I thought of a change. We are not changing from a standard 3 Series BMW, we are changing from a sporty car that we bought more on looks than practicality, so I'm guessing which one you will pick.

Do it mate, you only live once, if its what you want!?

keep it for 6-12 months then get something else, lol :)

I did like that Jag last night on TG.
