So that makes it alright to copy and make multiples then?LukeMace said:No one said about making money from this?

To be honest Luke this is a serious issue. Hows about we don't get one to copy. Work out fixing points shape size of our own. That way its our own work if anyone wants one of them then that's cool but we cant promise or offer gains???
As everyone knows i make bits n bobs. There is a lot of work that goes into each part. It would PI$$ me off if someone started making the bits after buying one of mine. Also i dont recon the RPI is that expensive after you work out the R&D that's gone into it and the testing i think its fair really. I know i have been making stuff too cheap and not making much cash.
As with most of the stuff i make i am normally just trying to help someone who like me dose not have the cash to spend. Or cant buy off the shelf. I relay wouldn't want to end up in any trouble. Especially as i am not that fussed to have one!!

where you been hiding?

But I'm no lawyer.
And, tbh, it's no different to digital piracy, which I'm sure we've all done.
also.. they're only patent pending, and I seriously doubt they will get a patent through on it, without going into deep specifics on dimensions, material used, post-production steps etc.
Otherwise, they're just trying to patent an air scoop, which has already been patented by many bigger companies, years ago.
The only issue would be copyright.. and even then, if you change the design sufficiently, you'll have bypassed that issue.
tbh, they wouldn't have this problem if they didn't change too much for it. (same as digital piracy)

TBH Monkey Man, you'd probably make a better one anyway, I have every faith.
I realised I made a small balls up giving you both calipers though, as I now don't have the exact fixing, or approximate location to get the brake lines done. I'll guestimate for one set though![]()

I understand about CR and Patents etc but to have a patent on the function of a scoop sounds farce to me!
Will have to have a goosey in the next little while and see what we can do![]()

We can all justify to ourselves our actions in avoiding paying for anything, and I'm not claiming sainthood here. But what I'm witnessing in this thread, because it's related to the field of my own invention, is reinforcing to me my own fears of letting my invention see the light of day either with, or without, patent protection, because I believe one way or another others will profit more than me from my efforts and ingenuity.
Machine monkey said:Your right sk93 Its about getting what you pay for. The RPI is over priced really.
As for just a bent piece of metal any Monkey could bloody make one!!!!![]()
Believe it or not it looks very simple and yes it but Luke will still have to program the plasma cutter they don't do it them selves. And will all have to be bent and manufactured in the correct proses. And there are skills involved!!
