Just for the benefit of anyone going down this route in the future who reading this. Jack (Royals Steering Wheels) does a load of wheels on an exchange basis so no need to send yours to him to be trimmed and no down time for the car. I used this service and basically he charged me roughly £110 for the re-trim (double padded, nappa/perf leather plus M stitching as in previous photos) plus a £50 as a deposit on the wheel (07/15 prices). As soon as I received the re-trimed wheel I sent my old one to him and got my £50 back. It maybe cost an extra £10 in postage but was worth it to keep the car on the road. Bear in mind you do have remove your trims/switches etc and swap them over, we are talking about a bare steering wheel here.

Alcantara wise, I personally know people who have had these on Porsches etc and would steer away on a road car, its design for extra grip in a motorsport context and these wheels are designed to be used with racing gloves not bare dirty/sweaty/oily hands. On a road car, particularly an everyday car they do wear quickly or at least go flat and dirty/messy looking. Just my two pence worth!
 
Yup, I know he does an exchange, byt Bryan was kind enough to offer as he was going there anyway.

I've decided against the alcantara :(

Going for nappa with perforated sides and double padded. Just need to decide on the stitching now...

I collected mine this morning and am chuffed with it so far.
Being Alpina I wanted to keep it pretty much OEM so just added a little more thickness and kept with the blue/green stitching and Nappa Leather.

I'm going to get mine done later in the spring (after the MOT).
 
just emailed Royal Wheels, dont want my wheel as thick as the msport as i find that too much so hopefully RW will be able to tailor it for me. :driving:
