Roundozo's zed

Bit of a grainy picture (with the phone again, and through my window) but you get the idea. Will get some better ones later in the week.

looks good, keep thinking of taking my baby 2.0i badges off lol, not to trick anybody into thinking its a bigger engine, purely because i think it looks better/smoother

I know some like to keep them but to me the side badges take away from the interesting design on the side of the wing, the angles etc. I've kept the badges in a draw in my workshop though so if i ever need them I can replace.

gonna do exactly the same, remove when i get a chance and then store them for when/if i return to standard to sell :)

As the weather was nice when I got back from work I decided to fit the new front anti roll bar bushes. The ones that came out were pretty gone and very spongy. I also cleaned up the brackets and the roll bar itself. I was going to repaint it but it was actually in good condition so didn't bother.

Some pictures for your viewing pleasure......

Someone has been busy. Car looking very cool. 8) How's the handling after all that work?

Oh and that iron photo.

Much better but still more to go. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas waiting for my B12's. I've also got to complete the back end, new drop links and roll bar bushes for that too. After that, some full alignment and new shoes all round. Currently still running run flats.

Not sure why I left the iron in that pic. Can't even think why it was there now!

Work started on the rear anti roll bar last night. Its unfinished as of yet but I hope to complete the job later.

The car was put up on the stands again (it’s becoming a familiar sight atm).

It’s for all these goodies to go on. Superpro anti roll bar bushes, Meyle drop links, new brackets and new bolts all round.

IMAG2755_zpseplabnyi.jpg

Look away now if your of a nervous disposition! Look at the rust on the current brackets. JE will not like the look of this! :p

I’ve now got all of the parts off and will get it back together tonight. I think I’m going to paint the mounting bracket in this picture to keep it all nice and clean. I only have blue calliper paint but that’ll do.

While I was down there as it were I also took these pictures…

A cheeky spring showing a lot of corrosion. Don’t worry this is coming off if about two weeks once the B12 kit arrives.

IMAG2763_zpsg4wuz4q6.jpg

The state of this shock isn’t much better either! Bump stops have disintegrated and the dust boot, well, not really working.

IMAG2761_zpsftkq1xbg.jpg

This is the sly weld I’ve had on the exhaust to remedy the classic broken hanger situation.

And finally, it is most important when working in this heat that you keep yourself suitably refreshed and hydrated. Stella is a good working partner here.

I’ll update with some more pictures later……

It'll look better when the B12 kit is fitted. More pictures to follow....

So full pics of the second day,

The new and old bushes compared to each other along with the mounting brackets. You can clearly see the old parts are rather tired.
IMAG2768_zpsqgnyykex.jpg

The drop link mounting plate was removed and cleaned up ready for primer and paint
IMAG2770_zpsnmlilbt4.jpg

After 3 layers of primer and 3 paint;
IMAG2776_zpswrwgrej1.jpg

The new roll bar bushes and brackets fitted. These were a bit of a PITA to get back in but with a bit of persuasion i got there eventually
IMAG2773_zps8quwyk5o.jpg

and then as already shown above, the new drop link with painted mounting bracket put back in place. When the B12 kit comes along with nice new springs and shocks this will look pretty tidy me thinks.
