Roof treatments - is it really worth it?

This is the Autoglym kit everyone's raving about. Excellent reviews on Amazon too - I may try this product myself.

As a Z4 owner of all one week, I decided that before winter I should probably wash/seal the soft top. Did some research and decided to avoid the spray sealant ones due to difficulty in removing overspray. Went for the Renovo kit which supplies absolutely everything including a brush for the sealant and cost £26 with free postage. Its just arrived so havent used it yet but it looks a quality product.
Wonder now whether I should have gone for Autoglym??

That's what I use too - amazing stuff. I don't spray it though, I prefer to apply with a small (about 1") paintbrush
 
went to see the detail guy who did mine the other day - he did a demo for some of the P-Cars up here and he said he never sprays a product on a car - always onto applicator pad or small brush- to prevent overspray and save product.

I did similar after reading the thread. Just remember that the doors need to open and the windows drop slightly when they do so you cant tape it all up real tight :) like i did.

That might have been me... I used Renovo for recolouring, worked fine but doesn't address the wear (shiny) marks.

If you look on DW, there are number of threads about the fold marks as they seem to appear (to different degrees) on all modern softtops.

A few people reported methods that would temporarily improve the look of them but, as they're created by the fabric rubbing against itself when the roof is folded, they always seem to come back - unless, that is, you never drop the roof, which seems to defeat the whole point of owning a softtop

I rarely drive anywhere with the roof up....
it's only exceptional circumstances like heavy rain...
or Cindy complaining that she's too cold.... t09004.gif

That's the stuff Colin. Halfords were doing the full kit for £22 not so long back.

Worth getting the protector for a few pounds more.
