Roof slashed....gutted * Repaired *

Has anyone removed the inner roof liner of there soft top? is it possible? a couple of the trimmers I have called have asked if the headliner is removable?

I'm sure it is but cant find any details. In fact it must be removable as a replacement roof doesn't include it.

This has been my biggest fear of owning a soft top.

Hope you manage to get it fixed without too much hassle/ cost incurred.
 
Hi All,

Well I've had the slash repaired by a local trimmer for £50. He patched it on the inside with canvas & 3 layers of special bonding glue for soft tops. He has done a good job and although still visible its a big improvement. I can live with this although will need to get the roof replaced if I want to sell.

Sorry it happened at all, but excellent job, glad you got that sorted so quickly. As Gannet said, you wouldn't notice it normally - in fact I've seen worse crease marks on some cars.
 
Cheers guys :) The guy who repaired it works from his house and has been doing customized interiors & restorations for 20 years. It took him just under 2 hrs to do.
 
Looks a great job that :thumbsup: bargain for only £50!
Infuriates me the utter pond life we have roaming the streets in this country though :evil: should all be rounded up and shot!
 
Glad to hear you've got a reasonable fix, that's quite an impressive job.

Just bookmarking this thread since the repair was local(ish) - hopefully never have to look at it though...
 
Thats a great repair, maybe you should give us the guys number incase the worst happens to anyone else.
 
Well done mate, glad we encouraged you not to be too down about it. I wonder how much he would charge to redo the roof later if it ever needed it, sounds like it would be up his street? Worth asking in case other members have the same problem?
 
Really horrible to have this happen, have had the same thing a few years ago now on a roadster.

Looks a good and effective fix, not perfect but it is now your choice if / when you do anything else to it.
 
Great result and looks very professional- however if ur going to replace it for the next owner surly it would be beat to save up over time and do it for your self at done point during ur own ownership?

Thanks Guys. Its definitly not perfect but gives me the breathing space I wanted. I asked how much he would take to fit a new roof (canvas/bonded window) He said £250 if I supply the roof. Not sure how much it would be if he did it from scratch.

What a lowlife scumbag cnut to do such a thing to a car.Glad the outcome looks as good as it does.That repairer is a genuis.I'd be so gutted if anyone did it to mine.
 
Good result in the end. Looks a good repair too. Hopefully you can get on with enjoying your car when (if ) spring arrives.
